My husband and I have recently returned from a 4 night stay at this beautiful retreat and already cannot stop talking about returning. The owner, Saša, is such a wonderful host and instantly makes you feel at home; we were showed around the property on arrival,.introduced to the staff and were even offered a welcome drink to share with him at the bar. I appreciate all of the details that have gone in to renovating the property - from the stunning infinity pool, the detail in the bathrooms (I've never looked forward to a shower so much!) and the way the traditional and historic aspects of the building have been celebrated, for example the stone walls. The staff could not do enough for you and are so warm and friendly - its genuine and not at all 'put on'. The level of service is second to none and we enjoyed getting to know them throughout our stay. We also got on very well with another couple staying at the property - this is the great thing about staying at such a small, personal retreat such as this. We already had an itinerary planned but needn't have gone to such detail as Saša had so many great suggestions and offered to help us sort certain things out if we needed it. We weren't able to fit in a winery trip but next time we will definitely be sorting this with him. He also recommend local restaurants and places of interest. The chef, Nikolai, prepared a seafood platter for us on the first night and it was sensational! Seared tuna was divine, as was the squid and sea bream... everything on the plate. Oh, and I'd also like to mention that Christian makes a cracking gin & tonic! We sank a fair few of these on our trip. He always has a smile on his face, great to chat to and really made our day. We actually had to reschedule our trip from May to July - due to bad weather in the area and also due to a knee injury of mine (I'd read about the steps in Perast prior to arrival - yes there are quite a few!) When we rescheduled the room we originally booked was not available, so we ended up having the smallest room as it was the only one available. I was worried we could be short on space but I've got to say it was such a lovely room and I would not hesitate to book this one again. Very cosy and inviting. The shutters opened out onto a view of the town below, the bay and the church. Bathroom was brilliant - the shower had many different settings and it was like a mini spa almost! Rainfall showers every day were a treat. Double sinks. Wardrobe space was great too as this is something usually lacking in many hotels and we don't pack light. Bed was very comfortable, multiple pillows and robes and slippers provided. What Sasha has created here is something truly special - and is unlike anywhere we have stayed previously. It is very much a retreat as the name would suggest and not just a hotel. We've never had an experience like this, and we've stayed at many boutique hotels on our travels. This just tops the mark in every way. It's much mor

We are so glad a room became available last minute as our stay in this retreat made our trip to Monte***** even more special. Sasha is a great host , was so knowledgeable about the area and gave us great recommendations. We enjoyed a traditional welcome drink with some fresh elderflower that I wish I could take home in barrels. The room was huge, spotless and so well designed, the entire hotel is the same. If you stay here, you have to try the food. Nicoli is the chef and incredibly talented, we had a private meal overlooking the bay and it was incredible, the breakfast was outstanding. The pool overlooking the bay is incredible but as we stayed late September it was too cold to properly swim. I’m struggling to find a fault to make this review seem neutral but all we can say is thank you for an incredible stay!

There is no denying that the location of this hotel is beautiful. The view was just memorising and we never got bored of it. With only 6 rooms there were many times during our stay that we had the pool to ourself. The chef was great, the breakfast lovely and he was clearly very talented. We were however disappointed in a number of aspects. We found the service poor. There were many times throughout the day when we couldn't find the member of staff to order drinks or water top ups. The music played at times was really inappropriate. The afternoon staff member liked house/trance at excessively loud levels, despite a number of guests asking for chilled music or for peace and quiet. It put us off eating dinner at the hotel which was a shame given the great chef. Our room was vibrating with the bass. The pool also had green algae growing in an area that had repeatedly missed the cleaning which wasn't pleasant. Although no fault of the hotel there is a mosquito issue higher up in Perast. Bring repellant otherwise you will be bitten around the pool. It was very hot at the time we visited but the room remained warm despite the Aircon setting being as low as possible. We didn't have this issue elsewhere in the heat. Unfortunately even though the location was beautiful we would not return, particularly at the prices.

We are just home from a wonderful stay at the Monte Bay Retreat, from arrival to leaving the personal service was second to none whilst being attentive the hotel still had a super relaxed feel . The breakfast is outstanding and the Banana Bread is a reason to stay in itself ! I’d recommend experiencing and evening meal too . Thank you so much to Sasa , Kristian and Nikolai for such a relaxing stay .

Monte Bay Retreat is a beautiful family run Boutique Hotel in Perast. My Husband and I stayed for 3 nights before exploring more of Monte*****. We had a delightful time relaxing into our holiday at this gorgeous little hotel. Owner and Host Saša gave us a very warm welcome. He showed us around our beautiful room (Lady of the Rock) and later settled us by the infinity pool with a refreshing homemade lemonade welcome drink. The hotel has been a labour of love for Saša as he has painstakingly restored the grand building into an impressive space with mod cons such as Japanese toilets, showers with mood lighting and free standing bathtubs (with jaw dropping views!) All of the staff at Monte Bay are wonderful, however Kristijan and Ivan (bar and wait staff) were incredibly sweet, accommodating and did everything they could to make sure we were having the best time. Their level of care and sincerity is rare to find, and it was a delight to be in their company. My Husband and I are both vegan and I was a little concerned about how well we would eat as I’m aware that Monte***** isn’t particularly vegan friendly. We needn’t have worried. We spoke to Chef Nikola and every morning we indulged in delicious vegan banana bread, fresh fruit and overnight oats. We also decided to dine at the hotel on our last night and Nikola created us a bespoke vegan menu that was just wonderful and so thoughtful. Kristijan and Ivan were also on hand to make the table setting and service just right. This level of service is way above and beyond. We were truly spoiled. Perast is a beautiful quite village just 15mins drive from busy Kotor. We are so glad that we chose to stay in Perast as it’s beauty and tranquility far surpass Kotor for a relaxing break. One particular highlight was getting up at sunrise and running along the shore. Running around my local park will never be the same again! I would not hesitate coming back to Monte Bay. The setting, facilities and service make this a very memorable experience that may just spoil you for life!

I travel often and stay in many hotels (over 130 hotel night stays this year) , but this was one of the most unique and wonderful stays I have had in a long time. First of all, the hotel has only 6 rooms. The building is very old and was remodeled to bring it to a mixture of old and very contemporary lodging. The walls are old, but the inside of the rooms have unique contemporary features. The shower and the toilet are very high tech. The view was so pretty with the water and the mountains. It is so peaceful and you need only walk down the hill to get to the town below. The owner, Sasha, is hands on and so attentive and helpful. The chef and the housekeeper round out the staff and are pleasant and extremely diligent. The banana pie that is available on order for breakfast is not to be missed. I loved just sitting in the dining room looking at the view or from the pool area which is like a retreat. I will make sure to go back to this retreat soon.

Absolutely fantastic hotel. It is in magical Perast but away from the front which means you get some tranquility especially when the coaches turn up during the day. Saša was also a great host and couldn't have been more helpful. If you are planning to stay here, plan to eat in their restaurant. In particular we would recommend the tasting menu. After asking us the day before what we liked and didn't they prepared a delicious tailored meal for us. Can't wait to stay again!

Beautiful Boutique Hotel with an amazing host Sasha. Splendid views from all aspects of the hotel of the bay. Stylishly decorated throughout and very clean. Breakfast was amazing , with lots of options for all tastes , served by our delightful host Sasha. Sasha cannot do enough for u , making recommendations and reservations . Would recommend the Vineyard Tour. Hotel is only a 3 minute walk from lovely restaurant down on the bay ( although a few steep steps , so maybe not suitable for anyone with disabilities) If you are reading reviews in order to find the perfect hotel in beautiful Parest, look no further and book you will not be disappointed!

Monte Bay Retreat was where my husband and I kicked off our honeymoon and we couldn't have made a better choice. Sasha was super helpful and communicative through the whole process and handled our airport transfer -- he even kept eyes on our flight status to make sure everything was seamless. When we arrived he greeted us warmly and gave us a rundown of the hotel and showed us to our room. He had a welcome drink with us which was so wonderful! He tells great jokes and is really fun to be around. The pool is fantastic with the most stunning views. The hotel caters to couples so it is quiet and private. Perast is a pretty sleepy town that you can walk end to end within 30 minutes, so we spent most of our time by the pool, and wouldn't have had it any other way. We stayed in the St. George room, which was comfortable and well designed. There was more than enough space for all of our stuff, and more gorgeous views! The jacuzzi tub in the room is a highlight, though sadly my own ineptitude made me not know how to work it until the last night, but Sasha helped and didn't make fun of me too much, haha. The restaurant food is excellent and the drinks are superb. I could not stop ordering Mojitos, definitely don't miss out there, and make sure to order the natural/organic wine. The service is so amazing I saw Sasha personally make a custom frozen cocktail for a couple who ordered off-menu. This staff does not rest! they are always making sure you're comfortable and happy. We had a private boat ride arranged for us by Sasha which took us all around the bay, it was a real highlight and we barely had to lift a finger, everything was taken care of for us. One of the staff, Meli, provided lots of insider tips and recommendations that we ended up following and she was right! (Ask about the alternate walking path in Kotor if you go there). She had a lot of great stories and you can tell her and Sasha both really enjoy people. To provide the level of service they do, you'd have to. Talking about going way above and beyond, I unfortunately came down with VERY bad food poisoning (NOT from them, from another place) the morning we were supposed to check out. The hotel was fully booked and we had to find somewhere else to stay. Sasha gave us another hotel recommendation, Meli handled having our rental car delivered to us so my husband didn't have to go 30min away to pick it up in Kotor so he could focus on taking care of me and the other arrangements of packing up and booking this other room. Meli took care of me like a mother while I was sick, and it brings tears to my eyes just thinking about her kindness. She was literally applying cold compresses to my head and the back of my neck while I lied in bed, no one asked her to! She just cared that much and wanted to help. The other woman on staff ( I forget her name sadly but she was also so nice and helpful!) AND Meli each brought me mint tea and a probiotic pill to help settle my stomach, so I had 2 mint te
