JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa

We celebrated 2 friends birthdays over a weekend trip. We had to pay extra to guarantee connecting rooms but it was worth it. The hotel is beautiful with several pools and a water park with a lazy river. The only downside was the bathroom floor and shower area could have been cleaner. But Clara Jane was at the check in desk, she was in training still but did an amazing job helping me. She sent a follow up card to our room and birthday treats for my friends. Great personal touches that mean a lot!! The restaurant choices for dinner were limited as one of them was closed for a few weeks.

Beautiful place to relax, recharge, and get spoiled!

Great resort. Check in was good. Room had all the expected JW amenities. Good shower, comfy bed, good Illy in room coffee. Daily housekeeping was great. Fantastic pool area with a “lazy river” and an adults only area. Breakfast was good and complimentary for Marriott Platinums and above. No lounge for Elites but the breakfast restaurant was perfect. Restaurants had good food - did not have to leave property for this! This is a solid property for a business trip or a vacation.

Wow. It’s all I can say about this resort. I went for a work conference and took my family. The front desk staff (Esp Laura, not the manager) were superb. The room was great, the pool, view. Everything was amazing. The lazy river was a plus, the water slides were super fun. If you’re walking around the pool, be sure to wear sandals. The cement gets HOT. There are tubs of water to drink everywhere so bring a water bottle with you to refill. The pool staff were extremely friendly. The pool drinks were expensive but I figured they would be. The gym was huge and had everything. I got a manicure in Revive Spa with Rachel who was awesome. My 11 yr old son did a golf camp every morning which he loved- so thank you so the wildfire golf club staff. My husband and son did 9 holes one day and 18 another. After 3pm, kids under 12 (I believe is the age) are free. They were hot but they said the course was awesome. We walked a few times a mile down to the Desert Ridge Shops where there were tons of shops, restaurants, a target plus more. All of the Lyfts we took, the drivers were very friendly and happy to talk about Arizona. The valet and concierge at hotel were also awesome. I can’t say enough about this place except my son left his hat in the bathroom and he realized it on the way to the airport :( i guess that’s what happens when we have a flight at midnight to go home! Thank you to JW Marriott! We had a great time that we will never forget! Arizona will be my retirement place :)

Beautiful property! Land development is inspiring! Property great for businesses, families, friends, conferences, athletics. They have something for everyone. My daughter and I attended an award ceremony and we were greatly impressed with the wonderful accommodations, beautiful grounds, and professional and friendly staff.

Exquisite 3 night stay in Room 3252 from May 16-19, 2024. Wonderful property for families. The lazy river is a blast for kids. Room was very good size with large bathroom and very spacious balcony. The Marriott beds are like sleeping on a cloud. The Griffin Club staff was excellent. Their food and beverage service was top notch. We will stay again. My 9 year old son declared that it’s his second favorite hotel after the Fairmont Whistler. The grounds are stunning and we loved feeling like we were tucked in a luxury oasis for our 3 days. Enjoyable stay. Nice restaurant options. Lots of amenities. Comfortable room and bed. Highly recommend the spa- cafe, pool, jacuzzi, steam/sauna, relaxation room and excellent massage! Outdoor area is gorgeous but I didn’t get to use it. Reliable Starbucks.

We visited JW Marriott Phoenix Desert Ridge Resort & Spa over Labor Day weekend hoping for a relaxing getaway, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. While the room upgrade was a nice touch—thank you for that—the room itself was surprisingly disappointing. It was large, but the bathroom only had a small, old-fashioned bathtub as the shower, which felt out of place for a luxury resort. On top of that, housekeeping left much to be desired. Our bed was not properly made, and the floor wasn’t cleaned. The biggest issue, however, was the resort environment. The resort felt more like a playground, with kids and teenagers running and screaming everywhere, making it impossible to relax. The place didn’t feel clean or hygienic at all. The one adult pool was a huge letdown—it was small, crowded, and felt more like a pond. To make matters worse, you have to pay for a regular seat by the adult pool, not even for cabanas or anything fancy, which felt unreasonable. There were no proper rules or regulations for the adult pool, either. We saw people enter the water fully clothed—shirts, leggings, and even washing their sandals in the pool and jacuzzi, which was very unhygienic and disturbing. There were also people who didn’t seem to pay for the adult pool, using the facilities without paying. Families with kids renting cabanas nearby would let their kids run in and out of the adult area. It was complete chaos. Even the lobby was chaotic, like a busy airport, with no regulation or control over who was coming and going. Overall, our experience was far from relaxing, and given the high cost, we expected much more in terms of cleanliness, control, and service. Unfortunately, we will not be returning.
