Hotels near Sung Hung Pagoda in Phu Quoc Island

The hotel is located in the downtown area right next to the beach, so the location is excellent. The check-in starts at 3 PM, just like another hotel; however, there is no warm service, and the room booked from trip.com has been arranged on the lower floor. The results were noisy on the lower floor because we reserved an ocean view, and the hotel swimming pool is just below the balcony. So we asked to change the room to a higher floor after several negotiations with the receptionist and added additional costs. There are no highlights about the hotel facility and average five-star rating. We swim more by the swimming pool than at the beach because the seawater quality is not that good. For the morning breakfast, there are many options, but nothing outstanding. Overall, it's a good hotel.

We stayed at the Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc for two nights. And I must say, it was the best decision we made for staying there. Truly a luxurious five star property with all the amenities one could possibly ask for. Located on the extreme Northwest of the island of Phu Quoc, this resort gives you access to one of the most pristine and beautiful private beaches. We stayed in an Standard King Size bedroom with sea view. The room was incredibly amazing with super awesome sea view. The photos attached with this review can only make 50% of what one can see with his own eyes. A special mention for the excellent sauna bath which I enjoyed the most. The hotel is very well managed and the staff was extremely courteous and professional. However, a couple of things which I think that as a five star property the hotel needs to work upon: (a) They must provide adequate drink g water bottles in the rooms. They just gave two 500ml bottles per day which is very less for two persons. Drinking water is something that shouldn't be quantified. The tap water was jot drinkable hence it became obligatory to purchase water from outside. This I don't think happens anywhere else in such type of property elseqhe. (b) In their magnanimous breakfast spread, there were extremely less vegetarian options. One had simply to rely on steamed rice and some boiled potatoes apart from the bakery items. This as a five star hotel the management must rework and add more vegetarian options. In the end, I would always love to come back and stay here. I would also recommend this property to all kinds of travellers for coming down to experience luxury in a different way.

Pros: - good location, walking distance to Grand World - low price, best if you don’t spend much time at the hotel and mostly out and about - clean and modern decor Cons: - no aircon in corridor and elevator, it can be very uncomfortable to step in the elevator on hot days - no room service, no service at pool area, no option to pay for food and beverage at check out. - minibar is empty, instant coffee and tea bags are available yet no milk. When we requested milk for our cup of tea, the reception staff advised we would need to go to the bar (ground floor) to purchase milk at own cost. Milk is essential and it has always been provided free of charge wherever we’ve been (Bali, Singapore, Australia, etc.) - mid-stay ROOM INSPECTION. This is very UNPLEASANT practice to Westerners and should be stopped. Not sure if this is normal in Vietnam, but it is very displeasing and annoying to us (Australians). We often stayed a few weeks to months in Bali and other Asian countries, we’ve never had room inspection where 2 staff entered our room, 1 of them walked around the room pretending to check the skirting board with a screwdriver while the other was casing the room (it was obvious that they wanted to check to room). - poor English proficiency. Only one reception staff can speak English well, the rest of the staff don’t. My husband was quite frustrated during our stay because he couldn’t communicate with staff. We’ve stayed in Bali and other Asian countries, all of their staff are fluent in English including security and housekeeping staff. - lack of attention to food safety. Signage is very small. No cover when the meals bought outside to the pool area. Food was not kept at optimum temperature can cause bacteria to grow to dangerous levels that can cause illness. - lack of knowledge about beverage. Staff didn’t understand my husband’s order of Bourbon + Cola (very common drinks to Westerners) and advised they don’t have Bourbon. When my husband went to the bar with the staff, there was a big Bourbon bottle sitting on the shelf! - lack of customer service. Staff was not attentive to customers, my husband had to walked to the restaurant to get staff attention when we wanted food and drinks while we were at the pool. Staff should walk around and simply check in with customers. Staff didn’t greet customers when they walk past, again when we were in Bali and other Asian countries, their staff (everyone including housekeeping staff) always said good morning, good afternoon or good evening. - FACIAL BIOMETRICS RECOGNITION was an entry requirement to enter buffet breakfast. This should be disclosed in booking description including third-party websites like Agoda, Booking.com, etc. No information on Facial Biometrics Recognition are found anywhere or has ever been communicated to us prior to checking in. Wir haben zuvor schon 6 Nächste ”in dieser Ecke” im Coco Palm verbracht und sind zum Ende für unsere letzten 6 Nächte zurück nach Ong Lang und haben uns für das Kingo entschieden. Es liegt nicht direkt am Strand (mehr zum Strand lest ihr in der Coco Palm Bewertung) aber es hat eine herrliche ruhige und versteckte Lage. Mit dem Roller gar kein Problem. Es gibt zwei Wege von denen man das Kingo anfahren kann. Wir empfehlen den Weg vom Elwood Resort aus, da es schneller, kürzer und auch die Straße besser ist. Es gibt kostenlose Fahrräder, einen Kostenlosen One-way Shuttel-Service von ODER zum Flughafen und einen kostenlosen Bobby-Car Service für die umliegenden 1-2 Kilometer. Das Frühstück ist lohnenswert und sehr entspannt. Leider auch hier nur bis 10 Uhr. Bei der Ankunft wurde wir in einen Private Garden Bungalow geführt, hatten jedoch einen Bungalow am Pool gebucht (diese sind einfach größer und nochmal hübscher in Bad und Zimmer--entsprechend zahlt man etwas mehr) -es wäre wohl nicht das erste mal gewesen das die Buchungsagentur das falsch übermittelt hat, wie wir erfahren haben. Es musste also erstmal geklärt werden.. ging am Ende aber gut aus. Wir haben nochmal 20 Min. gewartet und dann den ursprünglich gebuchten Bungalow bezogen. Das Zimmer war sehr schön und das Bad auch schön groß mit Dusche und Wanne. Alles sehr sauber! Leider sind die Pool Bungalows Doppelhälften und EXTREM hellhörig. Wenn man sich mit den Türen von Bad und Bungalow keine Mühe gibt ( bzw auch die Nachbarn), dann sitzt man morgens direkt im Bett oder lauscht den Diskussionen der Nachbarn). Das ist aber auch schon das einzige was es auszusetzen gibt. Mir war die Matratze etwas zu hart (hatte mich die 5 Nächste zuvor im Lahana schon mit dem Brett von einem Bett gequält), weshalb es ab der 2. Nacht einen Topper gab... und schwupps, alles war super. Das Resort hatte nicht so viele aber oft wechselnde Gäste zu unserer Zeit, was natürlich sehr angenehm war! Der Poolbereich war ruhig, sehr gepflegt (wie die ganze Anlage) und lädt wirklich zum entspannen ein, wenn da nicht der Strand in der Nähe wäre :) -für unseren Abreisetag aber perfekt. Wir hätten trotz Leerstand die Hälfte vom Zimmerpreis zahlen müssen, wenn wir 3 Std länger drin bleiben wollten, weshalb wir das Gepäck an der Rezeption geparkt und im Gym abschließend geduscht haben (ach ja, der Fitnessraus ist ein Abstellraum und taugt nicht wirklich was... nutzt aber auch keiner). So lies es sich noch prima bis zum Abend aushalten, auch ohne Zimmer. Ein fehlendes Entgegenkommen was wir schon oft anders erlebt haben aber ok.. Business bleibt Business.. da ist man hier eben straight. Das Restaurant war uns zu teuer, da gibt es genügend in der Umgebung, auf die man ausweichen kann. Es sind viele kleine Leguane und Eidechsen, Geckos, Schmetterlinge, Schnecken und so weiter unterwegs. Es ist wirklich richtig schön und ruhig hier. The hotel/villa is situated at the north of the island closer to the other Vinworld attractions like safari, amusement park, grand world etc. But it is far from the city centre where the actual fun is. Service is mediocre considering the price paid. The beach is ok and clean. Worst part was the cleaning of the villa after we left. We were surprised to see that they never cared about cleaning the pool area. The basic utensils in the villa were also chargeable. Food in the restaurant had limited vegetarian options. Every extra service was priced very high. It is a skip from my side.

Everything was perfect! Location, food, beach, staff. It’s like a university and Lamarck-touched. Never had a place like that in Vietnam. Keep in mind, that there is not much around JW! But you can hire a scooter or enjoy the silence of the south-island!

Excellent service, convenient location, and extremely helpful staff. I'm in utter love with this place. The décor of the brand-new room was sophisticated and elegant. The hotel employees provided excellent service, which made our stay very comfortable and enjoyable. Leila, in particular, was kind and thoughtful in setting everything up for us, and she always comes with a big, genuine smile, which makes us even happier. She went above and above to make my stay as enjoyable as possible by planning my routes to visit various locations on my own, explaining in detail how to get there, and reserving my ticket to the airport. We want to express our gratitude for making our experience spectacular and incredibly memorable. Overall experience can be expressed in 3 syllables Fa Bu Lous, can’t wait to go back.

Convenient, comfortable hotel. There is free parking for bikes on the ground floor. We came from the sea, were tired, and didn’t wait for coffee to be made, so it was delivered to our room quite quickly. Rooftop pool with magnificent 360 degree views. Everything is beautiful and modern. The only negative is that you have to go through some back streets to get to the sea and the sea in that place is not the best. It's a relatively short walk to the King Kong supermarket, but it still turns out that the hotel is located at the southernmost tip of the busy areas. If only it were a little further north... Food - I won’t find fault, I have no complaints, but still I’ve seen better, so for food 4 out of 5. As for the number again - no complaints, but I’ve seen better, so again 4, even 4, 5 out of 5.

the massage environment was great, the actual massage fell short. The breakfast buffet was a standout, offering a variety of tasty options. The staff was consistently friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, my experience was dampened by a broken toilet flush that remained unfixed despite reminders. Overall, a mix of highs and lows during my stay.

Convenient as opposite of the resort are shops with food and spa options - just walk outside like a minute to reach. Id prefer Khem Beach but Sonasea Beach is still acceptable with the pretty sunset. Overall was a nice stay and the breakfast buffet was filled with loads of choices.
