Thank you for a very pleasant stay and extraordinary service!! A very quiet location in the small village of Plaka with perhaps Crete's nicest square with its three restaurants. Everything was to our satisfaction. Family Lundell from Sweden

I wanted to book this resort due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews, especially in regards to the friendliness of the staff. Having tried to book, I have discovered the staff are anything but friendly. I needed 6 nights but couldn’t find availability in one room but luckily was able to find 3 nights in one room and 3 nights in another. I booked directly via the hotel website and received a confirmation of my booking. Once that was done I booked flights. A couple of hours later I received an email saying my booking was rejected. There was no explanation as to why so I emailed and asked why. They said it was rejected as there was no availability. I asked how this was possible as I had booked directly via their website. This is the response I received: Probably it’s a system mistake cant say the reason, nothing is perfect. I mean really? Not only is it unprofessional, it’s also rude. I explained I had booked flights on the basis of this booking and sent them copies of the booking confirmations they had sent me. They didn’t bother to write back. I can’t believe they have such a hostile attitude to potential guests. If this level of disorganisation is typical for them, then I guess you might want to reconsider booking, especially given the lack of apology or accountability they have displayed. Book at your own peril.

We were recommended this ApartHotel by a family member and were not disappointed . We had an executive pool access room which consisted of a lounge with a small kitchenette, bathroom and bedroom, it had a good sized terrace with two sun-loungers and direct access to a pool shared with only the next door apartment. The terrace lacked any sort of shade after about 3pm in the afternoon and would have greatly benefited from an umbrella or canopy as when we were there at this time we had to sit indoors due to the intensity of the sun - hopefully this will be rectified in the future. Our check in was seamless - thanks to the lovely Xanthe who was extremely helpful during our stay. We ate both breakfast and dinner in the Hotel’s Riviera restaurant and both were excellent. Plaka has a small square with 3 Tavernas and the 2 we ate at were fairly good, there was an excellent authentic Greek Taverna just down the hill from the Hotel going towards Almyrida (a one min walk) called Sunset Taverna which was amazing. The walk down to Almyrida Beach took less than 10 minutes and we always got a Taxi back as after a day at the the beach the hill back up wasn’t an attractive option! We would definitely return as long as there were umbrellas on the individual apartment terraces.

We are now regular visitors to the Sun & Sea Resort and, frankly, would not wish to stay anywhere else as I really don't believe it could be beaten. With a choice of upper rooms with a fantastic picture window overlooking Suda bay (our choice) or rooms lower down with private sunbeds and direct access to one of the glorious blue pools this really is a luxurious holiday. All rooms have a fully equipped kitchenette so one can eat in or try one of the many first class tavernas within a few minutes walking distance. Breakfast on the shaded sun terrace is a great start to any day and there is a restaurant for evening meals if required. The beautiful beach at Almyrida, with its multitude of shops and tavernas right on the sea front, is a great place to chill out all day or to visit for an evening meal. All the staff are extremely helpful, very friendly and polite. Nothing is too much trouble. Particular mention for Anastasia, Xanthe and Maria who looked after us so well. Please don't all go flocking to this idyllic location because I don't want any problems when I book later this year (and next year and so on). A big thank you to all at Sun & Sea.

Our flight got canceled and we needed a place to spend the day to relax after the traumatic experience at the Chania airport. This place was the oasis we needed. So much privacy and a calm vibe. The decor is modern and comfortable. The restaurant that they have was a 10 out of 10 experience. I wish we stayed there for our entire Crete stay. Would return for sure.

Had a week here in June with two other friends who were also staying and we had separate rooms. We had all opted for a standard room with sea view and my goodness me, none of us were disappointed. The rooms were immaculately clean and were cleaned every day. The room had absolutely everything we all needed, big wardrobes, nice sofa (which I think would have doubled up as another bed). There was a small kitchenette area that had everything from pots to pans, to cutlery plates etc. There was a small table that comfortably seated 4 people, and me and my friends each went to the others room for 'lunch' several days which was great (Greek salad with vegetables bought from my favourite shop, the Pear Tree in Almyrida). The views from the wonderful huge patio doors were amazing, with a great balcony area. My friend had a lower floor to me, still with a sea view, and she had a huge (huge) balcony area, however I wasn't jealous as mine was still a good size, and I was happy as I had no-one above me. I was also at the far left of the hotel at the end, so no-one ever passed my door (room 101). The bathroom was just lovely, and it was a good shower (I left the hubby at home; he loves a good shower and I know he would have loved it). The pools were fantastic to swim in, it was never busy around the pools, often it was just us, and there categorically isn't any saving of sunbeds necessary! While we never ate at the hotel with the tavernas being only a few minutes away in Plaka Square itself, the food looked amazing and next time I go I will certainly eat there. It's obviously high-end food and it looks incredible. The staff there were very friendly, and I (and my friends) just loved it. We were all so comfortable, relaxed and happy there. I'd be happy to return on my own, but the reality is that I will return but with the husband. Please note, he is very particular about hotels, but I know that he will absolutely love this one. Lastly, this is a 'quiet' hotel. If you want a busy and bustling hotel with lots going on, then this is the wrong place for you. If you want quiet and quality, then this is absolutely the place for you. Thank you, Sun&Sea, for a wonderful holiday experience in your beautiful hotel, and I can't wait to come back.

Another great holiday at Sun & Sea. So luxurious! Very clean, with fresh towels every day and clean bedding twice a week. Robes and slippers provided. It's like a top class hotel with super nice and super-efficient staff and a great panoramic view across Suda Bay. BUT please don't all rush to book it as we might not be able to get in ourselves next year (and in successive years). Why would we go anywhere else?

Superb hotel in a breathtaking location. Cannot fault any aspect of our stay and will absolutely return in the near future. If you are looking for a relaxing holiday in a quiet village away from the hustle and bustle of a mainstream hotel, then this is the place for you.
