Hotel Volney Opera

Reception staff are rude and impatient. They exhibited lack of professionalism and engaged in an altercation with me when I tried to ask questions about extending my stay by a couple more days. They actually told me to go somewhere else. They claimed that my card did not work for enable a preauthorization and that I had paid a low rate. When I suggested to swipe or give them cash, the lady receptionist did not want to do it. She kept saying we could try later. When the male receptionist came on the shift later in the day, he said I needed to pay cash and that they were fully booked and could not give me two more days before my departure as my schedule had changed. Even if they think they are fully booked, it is only because of the location and that people need somewhere to stay. Nothing professional in their conduct. I was booked for only one more extra night instead of the two that I had requested for the 17th of July. How unfortunate that I had to stand up for myself as they tried to make me feel unwelcome for them to even consider giving me an extra night upon my return from Italy. They need to calm down.

We stayed two nights here. We arrived late on the Sunday evening but received a very warm welcome. Everyone we met across the three days was so friendly and helpful. The room was warm and comfortable, the sliding bathroom door left a little gap, but that wasn't such a problem for a long married couple!😆 The only thing missing was a couple of black tea bags for the English! The hotel is very well situated, close to numerous metro lines, and walking distance to lots of places of interest. We would be very happy to stay here again.

This hotel was perfect for our short trip. We needed a clean and central places in Paris to sleep and rest and this is place was great. This is not a fancy hotel with many amenities. Also the stairs are tight and the elevator small (2 people and luggage), not unusual for an urban hotel in Europe.

Friendly staff, clean and esthetic rooms, good quality sheets, good bed, good breakfast. Very convenient location in the heart of Paris.

Amazing location and amazing service at front desk. Lovely people and Checkin / checkout. The hotel is a little dated. Not a fan of carpet flooring in room. But everything else was perfect!
