Gran Castillo Tagoro Family & Fun Playa Blanca

Fantastic hotel with amazing facilities!Food at the restaurant always served to a top standard.Christmas day was a huge let down with limited activities and no special feeling.In the Santa meet and greet kids were given the same gift as previous years.Some of the evening shows need to be reviewed but some really good.

Just returned from our 5th visit, we love the resort and fantastic staff, so nice for the staff to recognise us, Nancy, Dennys, Shelley, Hassan, Leydis and so many great staff make the holiday perfect for us, we always stay in the Adults only area as we love the peace and quiet however all the facilities a great in our opinion and the family areas are always buzzing. Being 1 vegan and 1 vegetarian, we struggle with food choices wherever we go especially higher protein vegan food but the restaurants here cater for us, even offering freshly prepared dishes just for us (tofu, seitan, burgers, sausages), over and above the main buffet choices which really makes a difference. This is why we always choose the Gran Castillo as we know what to expect and we never leave hungry. The premium all inclusive package also offers a great package , a better premium drinks choice (including our favourite Rioja!), the use of Bali beds for the entire stay, a taster menu at the exclusive Sansofé restaurant and a complimentary massage at the spa. All in all, our favourite destination and we'll be going back as soon as we can!

We appreciated very much the kindness and helpfulness of the staff, the huge bedroom and bathroom, the location of the hotel, the food and the fact they gave us the bedrooms numbers we had asked without having to be charged for that (well, it was our second stay in this hotel and the 6th or 7th in Dreamplace hotels !) We had the surprise to discover that, unlike the year before, diner's drinks were no more included in our half board rate but to compensate this change and the lack of information, the manager kindly offered a free entrance to the SPA for both my parents and us. We appreciated as well very much the courtesy room the hotel lent us the day of departure as our flight back to France was in the afternoon) However, it really seems as if this hotel is focused on families and doesn't really care for senior couples coming in holidays without children. For example, in the dining room, there is no suitable "adults only area". The only place that was really separated from the rest of the noisy dining room was the small room with the fire place but unfortunately, this year, it was no longer for adults only. My elderly father, who has hearing aids, was very bothered. The worst experience of our stay was the swimming pool area for adults only ; the swimming pool was much colder than last year so we couldn't use it. The first week, we were without my parents (but the hotel was quite ful)l and we compensated using the jacuzzi that was warm and nice. The second week of our stay -Spanish holidays were finished ans the hotel was quite empty- my parents joined us but suddenly the hotel drastically lowered the temperature of the jacuzzi so we could no longer use it as it was to cold for us (my parents got it warm just the first day of they stay !!) Despite our requests, we never managed to get it back to nice temperature ! I can understand the vital need for the hotel to compensate for the rise in energy costs by saving money but may I suggest that management do this by another means, such as reducing food waste by raising customer awareness in the dining room for example instead of penalising adults customers without children when they are not so many in the hotel We are not sure to come back to this hotel because of this last point as a "for adults only" heated swimming pool and a warm jacuzzi were very important criteria for us !!

I travelled in April 2924 with two children aged 6 and 8. The weather was perfect. Around 26-28.c each day. I would certainly go back to the Gran Castillo, and intend to in 2025. I have listed the pros and cons and some general points worth mentioning. Pros: The surrounding area quiet, clean and tidy right on the edge of Playa Blanca to the East. The marina which is nice is walkable. The main area is a short drive. Other hotel guests nice and respectful Pretty surrounding area Nearby small retail area with some small bars, restaurants and shops Complementary Italian restaurant is great Papa***o beach very close and is amazing On check out we were given a room to shower up before our flight. Cons: Very nearby beach is not great Food a bit samey in Buffett. Average maintenance. Some area of hotel look a little tired but minor. General Points: Coffee handmade at pool bar . This means you have to queue but it’s better than machine coffee The hotel is over lots of levels, which means its a bit of a maze. I liked it as it made it interesting but if you had mobility issues you could spend a fair bit of your holiday in a lift! Some pools cold. I liked this as it was refreshing but only 1 pool I would call warm. The adults area seemed underused. There are plenty of adult only hotels in Playa Blanca. This hotel is a family hotel. I’m not sure it’s needed. I think the hotel just needs to fully embrace the family experience.

Well we're to start?! I really don't know what people have to complain about to be honest, nit picking if anything! I booked this holiday as a surprise 40th for my partner for myself, partner and our 2 year old daughter. From the set go the hotel were amazing, they helped srrange balloons, flowers and even a bottle of champers for our arrival. They greeted us so warm and friendly and even had a porter take our bags to the room for us and a complimentary drink in arrival (water, but hey its needed after travels) In the room, you have complimentary coffee, tea and milk. In the bathroom, toothpaste and brush, bubble bath, body cream and shampoo (super cute touch) I asked for a quiet room due to the little one and being a birthday we wanted a nice chilled holiday, we were placed 4th floor and opposite the adult only pool. Thank you for this is was a lovely touch to a quiet peaceful evening especially with black out blinds. Heading for breakfast, lunch and dinner... well what can I say?! I've seen loads of negative comments about this but I'm unsure why as its such a huge dining hall you literally forget there's different places to look for food so unless you're one of those people who head to the same spot for food then you may see a similar food spread..so move your feet and loom around the hall haha you'll be truly surprised. The poolside, omg wow, everyone is super friendly, always always a sunbed available by every pool, there are also some photographers going around offering to take photos for cute little memories of you and your family etc (great touch, well done on this..no wet phones). Staff attitude!! Why are people complaining on this?! One thing my partner and I noticed was that the staff respond to how they are spoken too.. of you're not friendly then why should they be I mean completely understandable right? Manners are free so use them! We always said please and thank you and smiled and said hi to staff weather cleaners, bar workers or chefs in reply they were all lovely and we built a great report with them and had some great laughs too, so just be nice and you'll get the same back. We really did not want to leave this place, we met some great people around the pool, our 2 year old made some lovely little friends around the pool and at the mini disco too. Staff, food, hotel and people all amazing. Will definitley see you all again that's for sure! Thank you for making our stay well and truly memorable, sorry for the waffling review but it needed to be said for people like me who continue to look at reviews once holiday is booked. I promise this will be a hotel to remember.

Hard to put only "one" note for the whole structure. I would give 5 stars to the staff and service, 5 star for cleaning, 5 star for rooms and structure, pools, etc. And 1(0 if possible) for the food. In fact, a lot in this hotel is perfect, but catering -food is a catastrophe!!! Worth zero stars!!!! The quantity wasted is unbelievable in 2024 and the quality of the products is just inacceptable.... Choice is huge, but hard to find not even one good product per meal! Some fruits have a bit of taste, but don't believe many are local. The atmosphere of the restaurant is horrible too, the 4 outside tables where is less noisy and smelly are in front of the toilets.... The rest don't dream to enjoy the moment! Despite this, All the staff is extremely nice and kind and service is good. Activities are nice and staff is cool. Sarah, Zakhari, Luca(Luke) and all the others we did 't catch the names were always nice, fun and kind. The bar drinks were correct. Pools, rooms, fitness are perfectly clean and comfy. There is a reasonable attitude in terms of towels change. A small minus for the smell outside/and sometime indoor of building AB. It's intermittent but is very strong when it comes....

Just coming to the end of our week long stay, we booked a Merlin Room. Do I think they're worth it? Yes for the kids' reactions to seeing their room. But then no for adults, because of how the rooms are set up, it means the main bedroom is quite dark, even in the day, and access to the balcony is via the kids room. The kids room is big enough to add a sofa in front of the balcony doors, which would give a nice seating area rather than going on your bed. The balcony just has metal chairs which aren't comfy for relaxing on. The Merlin rooms are also situated a good walk from the main restaurant where you can only get breakfast and dinner from. The hotel is spotlessly clean, lots of pools so hasn't felt over crowded and all the staff we've met are lovely. Food is great, they have different themed nights. The only way you'd find it get too similar is if you put all the different foods on your plate, rather than just having a proper meal. Would I stay again? No, it's too big a hotel for us, and also too far out from Playa Blanca and a proper beach. We stayed at Sol Hotel Lanzarote last year in Matagorda, and preferred the smaller set up.

One of our many visits to this hotel over past 10 years. The staff are amazing, with a special mention to Grit on reception, who welcomed us with such a wonderful smile, she goes above and beyond for all guests. The atmosphere at the hotel is fantastic.

Honest review: Is it a 5 star, no. Have we had a great holiday, yes! Rooms - spacious, clean, well kept. Cons - not enough plug points, no replenishment of tea/coffee. Food - fresh, lots of healthy options Cons - Very samey, most food themes you can’t tell the difference because it’s very similar. The variety is vast but it’s mostly the same day in, day out. Pools - refreshing, clean, no code brown over Easter, lots of space Cons - Only allowed floats between 12-2pm. I saw a child being told to take their rubber ring out despite being the only person in the pool. Would be nice if common sense was used. Entertainment - inconsistent. It’s good when they hire someone but when they do it themselves, it’s disorganised. I would say a lack of leadership is the reason but sometimes it was so bad that it was funny! Why is it not a 5 star… I believe this is the reason…. Leadership: Reception are disorganised but very helpful. Not overly friendly at times but get the job done. They only had one type of plaster when a child hurt their knee but it was the small ones. They don’t have all the necessary for 1st aid. When we arrived, we were not advised where ANYTHING is, no information, nothing. I found out we had one access to the spa and to the 5d cinema after reading it online. We had no idea where anything was and we had to figure it out. Getting to the spa with the kids was a pain as two reps told us different directions before a family told us the right way. Communication is not good at all. The pool bar staff are not friendly whatsoever but the sports bar staff are amazing. Everything is inconsistent. Overall, I wouldn’t come back as my kids are getting older but if you are a family with a young child, you will have the best time. You’ll just need to use common sense with things as info isn’t readily available unless you ask. When people say not to expect luxury of a 5*, I completely agree… however, it often fell short of a 4 star because of the points above. I would say the facilities are great but I have been to better 4 stars in regards to organisation.
