The place is falling apart. Rooftop area was OK. Breakfast was a joke. Gave staff room number, but were advised we had to get a voucher from reception downstairs, then return with slip of paper to breakfast area. Like, seriously. It’s a fair hike from the beach areas. But there’s a Walmart nearby. Photos attached of the dilapidated state of this “hotel”. Avoid. I"

"¡Our stay at El Taj Oceanfront & Beachside Condo Hotel was excellent! The reception staff was very friendly and attentive, and helped us with the baggage. The apartment is very large and made us feel like at home. We traveled in family and the distribution was perfect: our children could sleep together in one room, our parents had another room and, moreover, we had a shared living room to rest and talk in family. During our five-day and four-night stay, each had its own space and privacy, but we also enjoyed all our trips together. The hotel has a swimming pool and gym. It is just a few steps from the beach and very close to the Fifth Avenue, besides being surrounded by many delicious restaurants. When the time came to leave, ¡We really didn't want to say goodbye! The hotel also helped us organize trips to the pyramids and snorkel activities with marine turtles, even a private driver, making our family trip much more comfortable and quiet. The hotel was very clean and very careful. The next time we visit the Beach del Carmen, we will certainly be home again in El Taj. ¡ We recommend this especially for families!"

"**English below** הגענו למלון בשעה 21.30 והחתימו אותנו על חוזה שלא יבייש משכנתא. בקבלה הפקידה הסבירה שעל כל דבר שנרצה נצטרך להוסיף תשלום לדוגמא, פתיחת משקאות שקנינו עצמאית לצד הבריכה או יותר מקפוצ'ינו או אספרסו אחד לאורח בארוחת הבוקר (***?!) קיבלנו חדר עם ריח רטיבות חריף מאוד אבל היינו עייפות אחרי נסיעה מקנקון אז עשינו סידורים והלכנו לישון. בבוקר רצינו להכין קפה שהבאנו מהבית וביקשנו חלב סויה , מצרך בסיסי, נאמר לנו שאין להם ונשלחנו לקנות בוולמארט, מרחק של 20 דק' הליכה מהמלון (***?!*2). כשחזרנו נכנסנו לארוחת הבוקר שכללה 2 פרוסות לחם, מקלות מלפפון וגזר וחתיכה קטנה של פיצה קרה. כששאלנו לגבי ביצים נאמר שהיום אין (***?!*3). בסיום "ארוחת הבוקר" ניגשנו לחדר, חברה שלי נכנסה להתקלח ולא היו מים בברז!! כשניגשתי לקבלה נאמר לי שהטכנאים צריכים לעשות תיקונים במערכת המים כמובן שלא ניתנה הודעה מוקדמת לאורחי המלון (***?!*4). פקידת הקבלה אמנם התנצלה, אבל לאור כל מה שקרה הודענו שאנחנו לא נישאר במלון ואחרי שיח שלנו עם אותה הפקידה היא אמרה שאנחנו באמת צריכות לעזוב כי המקום הזה, שלא מציע שירותים בסיסיים כמו חלב סויה ויותר מקפה אחד בארוחת הבוקר, לא מתאים לנו מאחר ומדובר במלון בוטיק (***?!*5) מיותר לציין שברחנו משם והודות לtrip.com גם קיבלנו את הפיצוי שהגיע לנו. We arrived at the hotel at 9:30 PM and were made to sign a contract that would put a mortgage on us. At the front desk, the clerk explained that we would have to pay extra for anything we wanted, for example, opening drinks we bought independently by the pool or more than one cappuccino or espresso per guest at breakfast (***?!) We were given a room with a very strong musty smell, but we were tired after a trip from Cancun, so we made arrangements and went to sleep. In the morning, we wanted to make coffee that we brought from home and asked for soy milk, a basic staple, we were told they didn't have it and were sent to buy it at Walmart, a 20-minute walk from the hotel (***?!*2). When we returned, we went to breakfast, which included 2 slices of bread, cucumber and carrot sticks, and a small piece of cold pizza. When we asked about eggs, we were told that there were none today (***?!*3). At the end of "breakfast," we went to the room. My friend went in to take a shower and there was no water in the tap!! When I went to the reception I was told that the technicians needed to make repairs to the water system and of course no prior notice was given to the hotel guests (***?!*4). The receptionist did apologize, but in light of everything that had happened we announced that we would not be staying at the hotel and after a conversation with the same receptionist she said that we really had to leave because this place, which does not offer basic services like soy milk and more than one coffee at breakfast, is not suitable for us since it is a boutique hotel (***?!*5). Needless to say, we ran away from there and thanks to trip.com we also received the compensation we deserved."
