Watou, at the edge of Flemish civilization, as close to France as you would ever like to be, is famous for its WW1 history. Well, that might change soon. There is a family, humble as they make them, hard working as these Flemish can be, surrounded by acres of potatoes and corn, who opened a B&B, called In 't Groen. The rest is new history, which in a century or so will be remembered by our children and grandchildren as the art of hospitality and smiles, far away from social media and digital interaction. Actually, the art of smiling without avatars, the art of speaking without whatsapp voice messages. In the most pristine infrastructure (one could hardly remember this was a farm) welcomed by peace and quiet (it does exist) and on top this breakfast to remember, with freshly squeezed orange juice but foremost local products, as also this local specialty, the Watou smile and friendliness. Enough said, go there.
