Nice place, nice food, good service.A little bit noisy because the door isn't soundproof.

Should it be a family hotel? The front desk was quite friendly. I thought there were no bath towels. I went downstairs to ask and was told that they were on the bed. Seeing my confused face, the front desk ran to the second floor and got me a set. The room was not big (the equipment was quite complete), the sound insulation was not very good (the movement in the corridor could be heard, but the guests were relatively quiet after 11 o'clock), there was a backup heater (it is recommended to use it at night in winter, portree is still a bit cold), and tea bags, coffee, mineral water and walker's biscuits were also provided. Breakfast was provided. You can choose one of the several sets on the menu. There is also an additional self-service area (simple fruit and milk drinks and croissants). The breakfast was delicious. I paid for dinner at my own expense. The mussels were delicious. You need to bring your own: slippers, toothbrush, toothpaste, comb. Room equipment: shampoo, shower gel, kettle

The location is great. The facilities are a little old but all are kept clean. However, the price is a little high.

This home is in a very good location, right on the edge of the square, with breakfast and dinner available. The room is also very hygienic and has heating.

We came here for a post dinner drink. Pleasant staff, in particular one Irish woman. Knowledgeable about her whisky and gins. We didn’t eat here, but the food did look good. Great customer service.

★☆☆☆☆ — Consider Yourself Warned If you value sleep, basic comfort, or even the ability to breathe fresh air in your room, do yourself a favor and book literally anywhere else in Portree. The Portree Hotel operates a bar on the first floor that transforms the entire building into a noise nightmare every evening. Bar patrons congregate on the pavement directly outside, screaming and smoking well into the night — meaning opening your window for air is simply not an option. That alone would be bad enough. But the hotel also runs karaoke sessions in the bar that dragged on for over three hours past midnight. Three hours. Of karaoke. Echoing up through the floors to guests who just wanted to sleep after a day exploring the Isle of Skye. At 11:30 pm, exhausted and desperate, I called the reception desk hoping for some help. The response I received was staggering in its indifference: I was told that they “should have” informed me at check-in (they didn’t), and that I’d simply have to “put up with it” for another hour or so. No apology. No offer to move rooms. No acknowledgement that keeping paying guests awake past midnight is a fundamental failure of hospitality. This is not a hotel that respects its guests. It’s a bar that happens to rent out rooms above the chaos. Management clearly prioritises bar revenue over the basic comfort — and sleep — of the people staying there. The fact that they’re apparently aware this is a problem (hence the admission they “should” warn guests) and still do nothing to fix it says everything. Save your money, save your sanity, and save your sleep. The Portree Hotel is not worth it.
