To be fair, I did have some positive experiences during my stay at this hotel. However, I have given very low ratings for service and facilities to reflect what I actually went through.
The hotel is old, but clean and spacious. The breakfast was surprisingly good. Sound insulation is not great, so if guests in nearby rooms are loud, it’s difficult not to hear them—but that is somewhat expected in an older building.
What I found unacceptable was what happened on my second night. Suddenly, there was a loud and persistent noise coming from the ceiling near the air conditioning unit. It was so severe that I was unable to sleep the entire night. When I reported this to the front desk, the staff member simply said she didn’t know what to do and asked me to wait until daytime to speak with the day staff. The noise was highly abnormal and had nothing to do with whether the air conditioning was on or off. I ended up staying awake all night, despite having commitments and a meeting the next day.
What made things worse was the staff member the following morning—a lady with a very poor attitude. She was completely unable, and seemingly unwilling, to address the issue. She claimed that the noise was caused by the cold weather, which I found utterly unreasonable. She also said the hotel was fully booked and that I could not be moved to another room. Under these circumstances, I felt that a refund would have been appropriate so I could find another hotel. However, she refused, stating that she was not the manager and also refused to contact one. It is hard to believe that the hotel would take my money yet expect me to stay in a room with noise comparable to a construction site.
After a prolonged stalemate, she finally said there was another room available, and I was moved to a small, cramped room on the top floor.
What is even more unreasonable is that despite being moved from a large room to a much smaller one, there was no adjustment to the price. While the new room no longer had the extreme construction-like noise, the air conditioning was quite old, and the remaining nights were still not particularly quiet.
In total, I stayed at this hotel for four nights, and most of the staff I encountered at different times were actually very kind and helpful. It would not be fair to dismiss all of their service because of one incident. However, my review and the video I uploaded on Google Maps showing the abnormal noise were removed or hidden by the owner and the platform. I find this lack of transparency quite dishonest, as it prevents other travelers from knowing the truth.
Therefore, I have no choice but to leave a low rating here. Unfortunately, only photos can be uploaded on this platform—otherwise, I would have shared the video of that night’s unbearable noise and let others judge for themselves: who would tolerate that, and who wouldn’t be upset?
