We have stayed at the hotel twice before, under the previous management. Unfortunately, the new brand has failed to meet our expectations. The premises are the same but we have experienced a sense of abandonment. Some shops are now closed, only one restaurant is operational (the Puro restaurant) apart from the Pizza, and the food quality is less compared to Maxi’s. Puro restaurant (ex Maxi’s) has Italian with a mix of Asian cuisine… Really?? Who wants Asian food in Italy?? The Italian dishes were quite good but the Asian were not so good. If you wish bread with your dinner it comes with an extra charge and usually arrives at the end or in the middle of your meal…. This is quite odd for the Italian standards. There is no service at the beach, you have to get your own drinks from the main bar and the “Miami grill” section although it has a nice pool, umbrellas and sun beds, it looks completely abandoned…. Many empty beds and not service whatsoever. No drinks no snacks and no service at your umbrella as it used to be. Not even in the middle of August….This area used to be reserved for the hotel’s clients and it was the best part of the entire bathing establishment. Quiet and ideal to relax. Now it’s just sad to watch….. if, nevertheless, you still want to spend the day there, you need to pay extra. As a customer of the hotel you can use, free of charge, the green beach where everyone has access. This makes it extremely crowded. The pool there was full of children of all ages. It was impossible to swim! The more quiet places come with an extra charge. As many things in this hotel. The rooms are well appointed as they used to be and the staff is very friendly and polite and I could see they were doing their best. This hotel used to be one of our favorites places in Italy. Today you pay double the price and you get minimum service. I understand that the transition from one management to another doesn’t always come easy and it needs time but if you cannot be fully operational and you are not able to provide the proper service to your clients then you should not charge over 500€ per room, per night. As a conclusion, although we love this place, we will not visit it again unless it gets better. We prefer to remember it at its best….
