Hotel Mainao is a uniquely designed hotel in a great location. The rooms are spacious and quiet with a strange maze of stairs to access them. Staff is accessible and kind. The split AC units are a great bonus!

I am handicapped and this was one of the few hotels with an accessible room in Puerto Ayora that also didn't cost an arm and a leg. Our room was on the first floor and was spacious for my walker and all of our luggage. The room was very quiet, likely because it was not located on the main road. The room included a decent breakfast served until about 8.30am. They also offered laundry at a very decent price of $3 per kilo. The staff was amazingly friendly and answered my numerous questions (Amanda & Atenea!) I highly recommend staying at this hotel when staying in Puerto Ayora.

Great Spot, Weak WiFi Loved the location of this place! The neighborhood felt very safe, and I was completely comfortable walking around on my own. The staff were consistently pleasant and helpful throughout my stay. I’m giving it 4 stars instead of 5 because the WiFi was very unreliable. I had to go to nearby coffee shops just to get a stable connection. Otherwise, it was a great experience!

Hotel Mainao is a nice mid-range hotel that's off the busy Ave Charles Darwin yet close to everything. As others have said, there are many stairs and no lift. But if that's not an issue for you, this is a great hotel. Good breakfast buffet and excellent coffee to start your day. The room I had was on the top floor and was spacious, clean and quiet. The staff is very friendly and helpful. I had an early morning departure, and Alex was there to see me off and give me a bagged breakfast for my trip to the airport.

Our 10 night stay at family-owned Hotel Mainao was delightful and memorable. We enjoyed its beautiful Barcelona-inspired architecture, striking mosaic tile motifs, clean rooms and an expansive terrace overlooking a quaint, quiet street. Athenea, Amanda and Alex are excellent hosts and gave us their very best attention, while the kitchen staff provided a sumptuous breakfast each morning. We felt at home throughout our stay. Beautiful Hotel Honestly, I couldn't imagine a better place to stay in the Galapagos! The staff at the hotel was beyond helpful and always was looking to make our trip better. They helped us plan some activities on days when we had some free time. It is close walking distance to the Main Street and an easy and quick 10 minute walk to the pier and supermarket. If I ever go back to the Galapagos I will 100% be staying here.
