Hostal Costa del Pacifico

Extremely poor experience Immediately upon arriving, we were told there was no reservation under our name. After showing our printed reservation paid in full, the front desk staff appeared confused and had another employee come over. After 5-10 minutes of confusion, the hotel claimed they had overbooked themselves (despite the hotel appearing empty, with all of the rooms we could see having the door open). We were then told we would be brought to a different hotel. The hotel we were taken to was clearly lower in quality than what we had paid for in our original room. After travelling for nearly 20 hours to get to the island, we went into our new room at the other hotel. The hotel we were at was under construction (which caused us to be woken up as early as 6AM every single day to the sound of drills), as well as partying directly outside of our room in a small courtyard, so some nights it was 2:30AM+ before the noise stopped. The room was very small, with an uncomfortable bed and nearly no room for luggage. The wifi was extremely low quality; we often had no ability to use our phones inside of the room. Overall, this was a very poor experience.

Very friendly staff in the beginning of our 3 night stay, the manager was especially kind; we asked to move rooms because of the awful noise though the night outside and inside the hotel. The following 2 nights were better although I would not recommend a room near the street we were both woken many times by people partying in the streets, 0 noise protection from the windows, traffic, people talking in the hotel, children running up and down the corridors of the hotel at 9.30pm screaming, one wonders at why parents think this is ok in public hotel where people may be trying to sleep? The breakfast was very limited and basic, and the coffee is not worth drinking. The second morning we tried to get breakfast and it was very strange the staff were not helpful the tables were not cleared and we had to keep asking for things and felt like we had done something wrong. When we asked for black pepper we were told there wasn't any. The staff mostly were kind and helpful I guess it was ok for the price that was paid. Excellent a/c and very comfortable beds.
