We stayed at Golden Fields Resort for five nights at the end of October 2025, during Diwali week. It was our second visit to GFR — second because the first visit, in mid-2024, was really comfortable, and so we wanted to visit again. This time too, in every way, we had a wonderful time at the resort – which was brightly decorated for the festival period. During both visits, I was travelling with my elderly mother, who is 87, has mobility issues, and requires a wheelchair. Right from pre-booking communication with Biju Mathew (the general manager), I felt reassured that my mother will be able to manage, and there will be people to help. At all times, Biju stayed in touch, enquired if we needed anything, often stopped by to chat – it is he, and his attention, help and efforts, that brings that extra special element to GFR. He is prompt, professional and precise in his work approach. All the staff too were attentive and extremely helpful at all times, including, when required, helping with navigating and/or lifting my mother’s wheelchair, which is not an easy task. The food was sometimes not up to the mark, but those were exceptions -- most of the time, all our meals were very well-prepared and served. And of course the location of the resort — right next to the river — is a huge plus. From our room, with a huge wraparound balcony, the view is of the fields (the river in the distance) and mountains, and post-monsoon greenery was really spectacular. And evening tea at the restaurant by the river, with greenery and quiet all around, was a highpoint. We’d love to stay here again someday…
