The Queens Bed & Breakfast

WE stayed here for a couple of nights during Edinburgh festival - simply one of the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in. Fabulous breakfast (the bircher was to die for), extremely comfortable room and a warm welcome from this lovely couple. We could not have asked for more. And especially appreciated.... nice jars of quality teas and coffee in the room, milk in a small flask and home made shortbread. Plus bamboo fair trade loo roll, quality soaps...... and not a single plastic carton, sachet or little bottle in sight. Made my environmental heart sing! We will be back.

I booked the single room for a couple of nights for a solo reading retreat. Although it’s a small room, enough thought has been given to the layout and furnishings that it feels spacious, and I happily spent my evenings ensconced with a book, whilst sampling the varieties of teapigs teas on offer. The bed is very comfortable and I slept well. While the B&B was fully booked on the nights I stayed, it was so quiet that if I hadn’t met some of the other guests at breakfast I wouldn’t have known they were there. Breakfasts at The Queens are a delight: beautifully cooked and presented, made with fresh local ingredients, and with options to suit all dietary needs and appetites. I optimistically attempted the porridge and the full Scottish one morning and really didn’t need to eat much else that day! Angela and Judith (and Babaganoush) were very welcoming, and happy to advise and make suggestions about places to visit locally. They have created a real treasure at The Queens, and I will be recommending it to everyone and anyone looking to stay near Edinburgh.

I came here for my 30th birthday with my friend and was not disappointed. Angela and Judith are so warm, hospitable, and fun - full of great recommendations and conversation. The food was wonderful and South Queensferry is quaint and beautiful. Getting to Edinburgh took about 40 minutes but the bus is directly in front of the B&B and the drive is easy and beautiful. Highly recommend this place!!

I really miss! Stayed 7 nights at The Queens in Aug and everything is wonderful! Angela and Judith are so nice and warm. They take care of every details and both are also friends to me! I have a beautiful room - Mary, Queen of Scots (single en-suite) and the bed is so so so comfortable that really make my day! Then I woke up to have a great breakfast (different choices) that warm my heart too! I can also spend time reading at night and enjoy the the cool air from the top window. The interior decor is so stylish ....... It's beyond any words for description. It's home away from home! The location is so convenient - bus stop is just next-door which can hop on to bus 43 to the city or you can take train from Dalmeny station which is about 15 mins walk, supermarket is just opposite - across the road, cafes/restaurants/Forth Bridge & etc. also nearby within walking distance. I love to do my morning and evening walks from the high street to The Hawes Inn. You get to see the different views of the day. You will definitely love it too! I hope that whoever stay at The Queens will enjoy your stay like what I had and upkeep the room that you stay so that many will have the chance to experience it. This was my first stay at a B&B without my wife (attending a conference) and I found a really warm and relaxing 2 nights stay with Angela and Judith. They treated me like "royalty" and nothing was too much trouble for them. The breakfasts were very substantial and tasty, but the best thing for me and my bad back was the comfy single bed. Cannot fault anything, and the decor reflects the brilliant personality of both the hostesses. Highly recommend, thus the 5 stars.
