Parkhead House

We were fortunate to stay in the spacious, comfortable Iona Suite on the first floor, which includes living/dining room, a pantry with kettle and fridge and stocked with all sorts of delicious treats (from smoked salmon to fresh fruit), a large bedroom with comfortable queen bed and quality linens, and a bathroom with the fluffiest bath sheets we've encountered (along with robes and slippers. And our hosts gave us access to the full kitchen when needed. Most important were James and Angela, who were most welcoming and helpful with our questions. James took us on a tour of Abercorn Parish Church and on to Midhope Castle, from which we walked back to Parkhead House using the footpath and across the dear park. Such a fabulous experience. The absolute best way to end our trip to Scotland - and it's only 15 minutes to the airport car return!

James and Angela made us feel right at home. They are some of the kindest people you will ever meet, there are almost no words to describe the kindness and hospitality that we experienced. Their love of Scotland and for what they do shines through in every way. We had a fantastic stay from start to finish! Breakfast was delicious - we had a choice each day of what we wanted to eat and it was outstanding every time. Cannot say enough positive things about this B&B or the wonderful people that run in. We are already thinking about our next trip!

From start to finish, we had a fabulous stay at Parkhead. James met us with his welcoming charm and wit. We were felt very much like old friends reunited with him and Angela. We were right at home in our rooms, which were clean and comfortable and delightfully appointed. Breakfast was delicious! Between James' excellent and generous cooking, and my insistence on clearing my plate, there was hardly a need for another meal during the day. The grounds provided an enjoyable stroll, and we had good directions to bring us through a walking tour of lovely landscapes, views, and insider peeks into the makings of "Outlander". Highly recommended stay!

Beautiful! Had a lovely time during our one night stay after a long day of driving and sightseeing in Edinburgh. Very cute, comfortable place, great breakfast and walking distance to Lallybroch. Loved the country setting. Host was very welcoming. Really enjoyed it!

When you arrive, the signposts show you the way to key locations from the filming of the "Outlander" series, and the parlor has multiple pictures of the author and the actors with the proprietors. The parlor is comfy, a living room feeling with overstuffed chairs and couches. Out the windows, you can see both sheep and long-antlered deer grazing. The bedroom is sumptuous, with lots of touches such as hot water bottles, slippers, and robes. The overall feel is that you are visiting family and they are really happy to see you. Our last trip to Scotland ended here, but our next trip will start at the Parkhead House.
