Heartland Hotel Queenstown

I booked Heartland Hotel Queenstown at the last minute during Golden Week, when most other hotels in the area were quite expensive. This hotel was about 30% cheaper than its competitors and had good reviews, so I decided to stay here. Overall, I would definitely consider staying here again. The room was very clean and well-maintained. I had read some reviews mentioning a 'sewage smell' from the pipes, but perhaps because it was a colder season, I didn't notice any odor at all during my stay. The location is also quite central. As a 30-something, I could walk to a supermarket open late in about 6 minutes, a famous burger joint in about 8 minutes, and the lake in about 10 minutes. It's a convenient spot for sightseeing and shopping. However, the hotel is located on a hill, so while getting there is fine, the walk back can be a bit challenging. I rented a car and used the hotel's parking lot. I arrived about 5 hours before check-in and asked if I could park my car while I did some sightseeing, and they happily agreed. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and I was very satisfied with their service. I stayed during Golden Week in 2026, and at that time, parking was free. While prices and conditions might vary depending on the season, it's definitely a convenient option for those visiting with a rental car. Considering the price, cleanliness, location, and service, this hotel offers a great balance and comes highly recommended for anyone looking for a comfortable stay in Queenstown without breaking the bank.

Overall, the hotel was pretty good, and the view from the cabin window was a major highlight! We checked in around 8 or 9 PM, so we didn't see the lake view initially, but opening the window the next morning to see the sunrise was absolutely stunning. I felt that some of the facilities were a bit old, especially the bathroom and kitchen. Parking is available, but it's first-come, first-served, and can be a bit tight.

The hotel is a bit old, but well-maintained. The bathroom is quite dated and could use a renovation. The staff are all very friendly and provide excellent service. It's located right in the heart of Queenstown, making it super convenient to get everywhere, and it's really close to the famous burger spot.

Booked a cabin with three beds across two floors. The bathroom was newly renovated and very clean. It had both air conditioning and a heater. The service was also very good. It's very close to the town center, just a three-minute walk to KFC, Starbucks, and McDonald's, and also three minutes from the bus stop. I didn't have breakfast so I can't comment on that. You can do laundry here; both washing and drying cost five dollars and they provide two packets of detergent. The only issue is that it's too close to the road, so it can be a bit noisy in the mornings. Kiwis really are early risers, there was already traffic first thing in the morning!

I stayed in room 702 and it was incredibly noisy. I kept hearing the hotel's automatic doors slamming shut all night, which made it impossible to sleep! I was at my breaking point!

The hotel is very close to Queenstown city center, and it's only a few hundred meters walk to Skyline. The view from the hotel balcony is absolutely stunning, and the staff are very enthusiastic and helpful. Highly recommend!
