First of all, the Hilton Colon - like most Hiltons outside the U.S. - is far superior to equivalent Hilton properties in the States. Relatively clean rooms (no stray hairs anywhere!), comfortable bed, great shower water pressure, clean towels, nice and cozy executive lounge, etc. The room, and the property in general, is dated but things mostly work as they should. In the Southwest facing ”executive” king room, and in the executive lounge, the views of the city are spectacular. Unfortunately, the ”free” breakfast buffet is slop, with the most atrocious coffee in Quito. The exception is the made-to-order egg station and the nice gentleman who expertly cooks them. Bring your own coffee from one of the countless cafes nearby and then order just the eggs and some toast. Or, better yet, get an authentic Ecuadorian breakfast elsewhere for just a few dollars. There was extensive road construction going on during my stay on Avenida Patria, which is the main road adjacent to the South side of the property. Very loud during the day, and bright spot-lights aimed at the hotel were left on during the night for some perplexing reason. Not the hotel's fault, of course - just something to be aware of if planning to stay here in the near future. Lastly, the front desk receptionists at this hotel reminded me of the female customs agents at Quito airport. Not friendly for sure, and rather stern. On the other hand, many other staff members, housekeeping in particular, were kind and helpful. Would I stay here again? I think so, once the road construction is completed.

High quality hotel with grand look to interior. Nice facilities; the indoor pool was decent size and warm. Cute little outside pool is joined to it for nice weather. Good size gym. Bar area is smart and comfortable. Enjoyable bar menu. Mega pizza. Restaurant nearby. Breakfast room smart and well laid out. Excellent selection of continental options alongside cooked food made to order at the kitchen. Lots to fill you up on a day out. Room was nice and big. Do miss a carpet in a room like this but it is well styled and has all you need. Bed massive with good solid mattress. Took me a while to workout the black out blind control as there are no traditional curtains. Clean big bathroom with two basins and good size walk in shower. Easy to use safe and quality coffee making facilities. Good location for a few restaurants and spotted a bar too. Supermarket up the road. Some rooms have nice views of the surrounding hills. Finally pleasant staff who are always there to help. Bar staff were great.

I highly recommend staying at the NH Quito hotel. The service is excellent and the food is of very good quality. Dinner-Chef Jonnathan personally serves guests at their table and all three meals during the week were excellent. My husband kept raving about this hotel. Ignore any negative reviews you might spot here. Front desk staff were attentive and pretty fluent in English (although it’s presumptive to expect that wherever we travel). The hotel is on a quiet street for Quito and had double-glazed windows (unusual in this temperate climate) so it was super quiet. I got there at night and closed the heavy drapes; only in the morning did I discover there were blackout shades, too — a nice touch. Abundant hot water (not always a given in Ecuador) and a spacious room. This hotel felt very luxurious to us. The pool and workout area, which we did not have time to use, was amazingly well appointed. Breakfast buffet was pretty varied and phenomenal as well. We felt pretty spoiled staying here. When we were there the English Ambassador and his entourage were also staying there, so I think it’s considered to be a pretty good place.

We spent two days in Quito following our Galapagos cruise and booked this very expensive hotel as a splurge to end our vacation. On the plus side, it is very beautifully decorated, our room was quite large and there were lots of fluffy towels and nice toiletries. We received a bottle of wine and some chocolate when we checked in, and the people at the front desk were very nice. But the negatives certainly overshadowed the positives, considering how much we paid for the room. The air conditioner was barely adequate, although we turned it down as low as possible, so we spent two uncomfortable nights. One of the main reasons for booking the hotel was to eat in their lovely restaurant, We even thought we made a reservation for our first night. However. when we checked in , we discovered that the restaurant had been closed for months and the only available restaurant was little better than a coffee shop, although they did serve dinners. The breakfast that was included in the room rate was very limited, with most of the other offerings an additional cost. Even at more modest hotels, we have enjoyed very nice buffets with many choices, but not at this hotel. And finally, our trip ended on a very negative note. The hotel is on a pedestrian street so we, with all of our luggage, walked to the corner with the bellman to meet our car. He didn't have a cart so we carried everything. While we were standing there someone took one of our bags, unfortunately the one with the presents we were bringing home to our family. The hotel never bothered to get in touch with me afterwards, although I guess technically it was not entirely their fault, even though they walk guests to the corner on a regular basis. But an expression of regret would have been appropriate and much appreciated. I really intended to give the hotel a “poor” rating, but decided in the end for “average” but only because the people at the front desk were so pleasant. But we would never recommend this hotel to anyone.

We are leaving for other parts of the country today but really enjoyed my 4 nights here. Mainly local business people - I didn't see any tourists at hotel. But very comfortable - rooms are small but good wifi, lots of outlets, and plenty of hot water. Located about 1/2 hour taxi ride from Ciudad Historico and walking distance to Mariscal. Good breakfast provided each morning. Adrian at front desk was kind enough to get a driver for us for a couple of days to leave the city. They do have a small gym as well. I hope the next places we stay in Banos, Cuenca, and Guayaquil are as nice as this.

We stayed here in early January before starting a bird photography trip. We got here a few days early to enjoy the city. We arrived at 2am, and were greeted by the desk staff and shown to our room by a very courteous gentleman. We missed the included breakfast the first day, as we didn’t get up until 12😜. There are two restaurants and a wonderful coffee shop attached. Wood-fired pizza was delicious, as were the pastries at the coffee shop. The staff was very accommodating and friendly

The hotel team has transmitted confidence and seriousness in the service. I emphasise the honesty and personalized treatment I received. All that was combined during the reservation was observed. The breakfast is served without the option ”free buffet”, but as ”take-making” is deeply tasty. I asked for the transfer (”transfer”) at the hotel and around. The service was performed by Mr Alfredo (a taxi driver) who serves the hotel. The hotel charges $28 (value in July 2019) for each transfer track (going or returning) tell travelers: the room takes the model of the United States. No lifts are available, the guests need to get up with their bags in their hands. This may also be a spot for those with mobility problems, but the bathroom was not clean at the arrival, but in the other days such a problem was fixed and the whole room was perfect. The hotel also needs to improve the absence of a fridge in the room.

I'd selected this hotel based on location and reviews. It's very close to Foch Square (Gringo Town) which has many bars and restaurants along with great bus links into the Old Town and further North. As a mature lady travelling alone it was important for me to be somewhere I felt comfortable walking around alone, especially in the evening when going out for dinner. It's an easy walk to the handicraft market as well. I used Uber and taxis booked via *********** to to and thro to the airport but used the local buses to go into Old Town, admittedly getting off at the wrong stop beforehand as I couldn't see where we were. Top Tip is to count the amount of stops on the map so that you know to fight your way to the bus door in time to get off. The lads who ran Casa Foch were lovely. They probably thought I was a bit batty but they looked after me really well, confirming the taxi drivers were bona fida, doing my laundry, pointing me in the right direction and storing my case for me as I packed a smaller bag to take with me to Galapagos and Mindo. My room was a really good size, little bit damp / run down but reminded me of home! Super en suite and a balcony area to sit out in. Nice breakfast of fruit, scrambled eggs and toast. Brits & Irish - take your own tea bags! The house itself has a locked front gate onto the street. The only time I was a little uncomfortable was when I strayed onto a side road at night and a couple of chaps approached, presumably asking for money but nothing you wouldn't get in any city. I just crossed the road and carried on back towards the light. In short, nothing was too much trouble for the managers and I recommend it to other travellers.

I stayed here as I was passing through Quito. My time here was great, I stayed in a king bed. The staff here is very nice and helpful and ordered room service a couple times and the food was great. The hotel is very close to plaza Foch, and plenty of shops and eateries within walking distance. Overall I was very happy with the value, free breakfast, room and everything. Will stay here again my next time in Quito.
