Overall an excellent stay. Team members were welcoming and cheerful and the food in the evenings was excellent. Room was tidy and clean. My only suggestion would be that the website description of "all rooms have a fully stocked mini bar with drinks and snacks" was in fact one packet of (very nice!) crisps, not replaced for the second night. So, while I doubt anyone would book because of that being promised, take it with a pinch of salt! Car park is tight so take care. But overall excellent, and will stay again.

I went for a mid-week lunch with my friend to try the new menu. A warm welcome from all the staff and accommodated us very well. We sat in the orangery overlooking Holcombe Hill. Everywhere looked so clean and looked after. I ordered the braised beef cheek which was just to die for, added on some parmesan truffle fries and my friend had Steak Frites with peppercorn sauce! (I hear they do a Friday offer for this dish which is definitely worth it!!) Both absolutely gorgeous, tasty and well presented. We shared a bottle of Shiraz to top it off too. Good selection of wines as we couldn’t choose but Troy helped us out and gave us some recommendations. Troy and Jack really looked after us and we ended up ordering some lovely cocktails too. Couldn’t fault a thing, will definitely be visiting more often. I would advise booking as it was already quite busy on a Wednesday lunchtime :)

Arrived for an overnight midweek stay. The reception and service from checkin to check out was excellent from all the staff. A special mention for Lewis who was friendly, informative and a genuinely nice young man. He even came over to check we had had a nice evening in our return to the hotel. We had booked a meal elsewhere but on seeing the menus we will definitely return and eat in the restaurant. The view from the room was beautiful even though there was a storm that day.

We stayed overnight on A Sunday. Great package £150 per couple including 3 co**** meal and bottle of wine. The food was amazing I had scallops to start and then roast beef dinner which was fantastic with a gravy like I’ve never tasted before. My husband had a steak which he said just so tender. The service from the staff was polite, efficient and attentive. Everyone was very friendly too. Our room was amazing too very large. Came equipped with so many nice touches. Bed was huge and room was very nicely decorated and dressed. Shower was brilliant with lovely soft fluffy towels. All goods in the bar cooler were free including fizz, beer Orange juice and fresh milk for tea/ coffee facilities. Breakfast was brought to your door in Continental style presented in a cute basket with pastries, fruit, cereal and Jams. Also a crummy yoghurts in the fridge too. Plenty food. Would stay again and totally recommend others too. 10/10 ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We’ve been to the Eagle and Child many times and loved it every time! We recently went to try out the Steak Frites Friday and it was absolutely delicious! There is a really great choice of food to choose from and the overall atmosphere of the bar & restaurant is lovely! The service is also fantastic, all of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. I would 100% recommend.

I recently stayed for 2 nights and was given the 'Barn Owl' room, that overlooks the valley and Holcombe Hill. Situated on the A56, it is a restaurant and bar with a handful of rooms on the floor above. There is a car park to the side of the building and more space across the road. I parked across the road each night as the car park is fairly tight and is best left to the restaurant as it is a popular place to eat. Ramsbottom town centre is about 10-15 minutes walk away but it is a steep hill all the way. If you're in good shape then it is doable. I managed to walk back up at 11 o'clock at night after a generous amount of Bombay Sapphire and Jack Daniels all evening. There's also local taxis and Uber so no real issue getting around the place. Pros Good size room with character. Large radiator easy to control. Incredibly comfortable super king size bed with thick duvet plenty of very soft pillows. Bathroom very clean with quality towels, body wash and shampoo conditioner. Fridge with some freebies and space for your own use. Kettle, coffee machine and quality tea, coffee etc. Good sized TV on the wall. A56 is a main artery in the area that links the M66 about maybe a mile away, if that. So quiet outside during the night. The staff. Helpful in a relaxed way. Cons Can't think of any. Breakfast I believe there is a full cooked Lancashire breakfast on Saturday and Sunday mornings but I didn't stay on those days. On Monday to Friday mornings, a breakfast hamper of croissant, jam, cereal and fruit is provided to your room. This was fine for me and happily ate it all. As I was driving into Manchester both days, I dropped into a Greggs on on the way at Pillsworth Ind Estate on the M66 for a sausage baguette to top it off, as it was so convenient to do so. There's plenty of places to eat in Ramsbottom too. Bar/Restaurant Had dinner there early one evening. It is a popular place because the kitchen creates great food and the atmosphere is warm and friendly. TLDR: It's a great place to stay and will go there again.

My wife and myself stayed at this small hotel ! Firstly we had a very warm welcome upon entering we were shown to our room and asked if we were happy ! We had a wonderful view over Holcombe Hill .The bedroom and bathroom were both clean . We booked in for dinner which was really better than good !!! certainly one of the best Fish & Chips I have had for ages .We were looked after by 2 young ladies who really deserve a mention they both gave us the sort of attention you would not get in a 5 Star Restaurant Charlotte & Hannah ! We will certainly return Michael & April West Sussex

Visited on 13th may . The food was good and a beer called top bunk was very nice. i'm giving 5 stars because there was a group having a party in the garden that all i can say is well leave it to your'e imagination. They where rude and very intimidating . The manageress turned the bar off where they where at as she should . At which time the group became very verbal towards the staff and manageress. She handled the situation very good and calm . A fantastic team and manager will be back. Also keep youre eye out for a young waitress called jessica very giggly and chatty a credit to the pub.
