Hotels near Laugavegur, Reykjavik

We started our travel to Iceland by driving around Iceland in a campervan, so we were hoping for a relaxing hotel stay in Reykjavik at the end of the trip when we pre-booked. We were not disappointed by the Eyja Guldsmeden. The location was only a few blocks away from downtown where there were tons of shopping and dining options, and the hotel itself was beautiful. In the lobby, we grabbed (included) coffee in the mornings and a reasonably-priced drink for happy hour. The service at the front desk was friendly and cordial. The room itself had a nice view of the mountains and was warm and cozy. It was a great stay and we would definitely go back to this hotel again if we are ever back in Iceland! Our only difficulty, understanding this is mostly outside of the hotel's control, is that some of the sidewalks on the walk to downtown were extremely icy and slippery after a day or so of wintry mix that froze over. We had to be extremely careful making our way down to Laugavegur, which had much safer sidewalks. There were even a few buses and cars that couldn't make their way up or down the icy, hilly streets and had to work their way around. So if you are going in the Winter, be cautious and walk slowly!

A once-in-a-lifetime trip made more meaningful and charming by world-leading staff and service. We messaged ahead and told them that we were on our honeymoon. Iceland is a unique place on Earth, but almost as surprising as the geology, geography and weather was just how remarkable and excellent this hotel was. Its location was outstanding right in the old city centre and an easy walk to boat trips (for organised bus trips, which all use the same bus stop numbering, the nearest bus stop is number 5, about 5 minutes’ walk away), the breakfast was splendid and the room was unbelievably cosy, which was particularly welcome after a winter’s day adventuring amongst the ice and snow and especially the epic and cold wind. This once-in-a-lifetime trip was made extraordinarily special by the outstanding and attentive staff who really impressed with their thoughtfulness and commitment to excellence throughout. We cannot thank the whole team enough, both everyone we met as well as everyone who worked behind the scenes, for delivering a world-leading stay. We felt exceptionally lucky to have chosen this hotel, and so delighted that we did!

Great accommodation and location for a family of 6 ! We managed to see Northern light by walking distance to Sun Voyage.

Excellent location, so easy to get to where we wanted and needed to, especially we booked bus tours for 3 days, we were able to be picked up and dropped off at Bus Stop #1 that is located at City Hall where is only a few minutes away from hotel. It helped a lot when it’s raining. Only downside was the breakfast started @ 7 am which is bit late for early travelers, so the breakfast area was packed in the early morning. Maybe hotel should change its setting  to let two rows of people picking up their breakfasts at the same time.

I was so happy with my stay! We had an issue with some people near our room, but a staff member helped us immediately and even moved us to the best room in the house. We were so grateful for their kind and understanding attitude. I could truly feel their support and willingness to help. The room was clean with no problems at all, and the breakfasts were great! Food Experience The breakfast is superb. It offers high-quality ingredients, great variety, and is clearly set up to cater to all dietary needs, complemented by genuinely great coffee. Location and Verdict The location is ideal—it’s friendly staff are helpful, and it’s not too far to walk to the main town area, balancing accessibility with a slightly quieter setting. We would definitely choose to stay here again. Even saw whales in the bay, amazing!

Room clean and tidy, quite a big room for three people. Staff helped fold our clothes which was nice. Good location, near the meeting points of tours, and even one could pick us up in front of the hotel! Brilliant breakfast with various kinds of food. Had an enjoyable stay here!

Very good, clean hotel typical of the Hilton brand. Room is big enough, modern and well-maintained. Very good hotel for a good restful night after the flight to Iceland. Parking is free.

Good location, great stay with kitchen and microwave. You can cook everytime you need
