We have just returned from a truly lovely two week holiday at Kamari Beach, Mark Warner’s latest offering in Rhodes. As MW veterans we were delighted to see familiar faces in both the Greek staff and MW staff, in particular Mika, Rich and Alex. The warm welcome was extended to all guests and the hotel is located in a very pretty bay. We had a sea view family room in the annexe, this suited us well as it was quiet, and had lovely views of the beach. The family room had a comfy king size bed and two single beds that were through an archway. It was spotlessly clean with ‘just’ enough storage (I do overpack) and we liked having a decent sized fridge. The bathroom was a bit tight but perfectly adequate. I believe more interconnecting rooms are being considered for next season, and this would be my preference now our children are getting older. Food is good and plentiful with lots of options at both breakfast and dinner. Wine options are also better than in other resorts. We are at the fish restaurant next door which was lovely, and also chose to go into Lindos twice which was a great treat. Reception staff were so helpful booking it all for us. The pool has been commented on a lot, it’s lovely, our kids spent 90% of their time in it and we always got sun loungers. (Although there was fiercer competition than at any other MW resort I have been to. Much of this seemed to be guests securing them and then not using them all morning/ afternoon) For guests used to the 7 pools at Levante, it probably does seem more crowded, but there were plenty of quiet times to swim, which I did every day. Another adult pool is planned for next season and this will really enhance the resort, and mean there is less pressure on the pool. Water-sports and tennis were great and we enjoyed coaching/ courses in both. The courts are a bit bouncy, but none of us have recently been selected for Wimbledon, so it did not have much effect on our success in matches! Social tennis was friendly and very enjoyable. Asher was a fantastic coach, and Matt coached me, really helping me develop my confidence. Our sons did RYA sailing and loved it. Childcare was good, we felt that more shade was needed, and a more substantial ‘clubhouse’ for the juniors/kids as they didn’t have a room and seemed slightly in the shadow of indies. That said, I know improvements are planned. Our children couldn’t have cared less, made friends, ran around happily and did not ask for iPads so the formula still worked regardless of my thoughts! Overall, this resort was hugely enjoyable and whilst it is clearly still being developed it did not detract our experience of a great holiday, I look forward to seeing the planned additions, which I think will make it the best MW resort.
