Hotel Mecenate Palace Rome Reviews

The location is fantastic, right behind the Basilica di Santa Maria Maggiore, less than a 10-minute walk from Roma Termini Station. The room was quite small, and as an older hotel, it had a bit of a musty carpet smell and a drain odor. There was a kettle, but no slippers or toothbrushes. The rooftop restaurant offers great views, but it's a bit pricey. I was lucky to get the only single room with a terrace, but I was a bit hesitant to fully enjoy it with tea and a view, as it felt quite exposed. 😂

The location is amazing! Literally next to the Papal Basilica of Saint Mary and probably the ONLY hotel with a rooftop restaurant overlooking it. Having breakfast overlooking the church is such a magical experience. We always woke up early to enjoy the delicious breakfast, served by the fantastic and friendly staff.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, directly opposite Santa Maria Maggiore Basilica and very close to Termini Station. The staff are all incredibly warm and friendly. The breakfast is really good, with a wide variety of options. The breakfast staff, in particular, were wonderful; they'd ask if you wanted coffee and their cappuccinos were delicious. When they saw us carrying our luggage upstairs for breakfast, they were incredibly helpful when we left, carrying our bags down to the elevator, pressing the button for us, and politely saying goodbye. Disposable slippers are provided. The only downsides are that the hotel facilities are a bit dated, and they don't seem to provide a full box of tissues.

The service staff at checkout were not very friendly. Many of the room facilities were broken and quite outdated. The breakfast was rather monotonous, and you couldn't even get your own coffee. The service quality varied greatly depending on the staff member.

We love hotel service and foods. The breakfast is delicious. The room is very authentic and historical.

The most convenient location, just opposite Santa Maria di Maggiore and 7-10 minutes walk to Roma Termini and metro. Several bus stops nearby - we use buses to go to Colosseo, Borgese, piazza Navova, and metro for Vatican. Terrific view form breakfast terrace and good breakfast too - there were even several types of milk (regular, lactose free and soy). Surprisingly big bathroom and shower for the historical part of Rome. One thing that was not convenient is the central regulation of the conditioner (due to the historical type or building) - you have to call the reception to switch it off. All the other stuff is really good.

I stayed for 5 nights and didn't fully appreciate this hotel's quality while I was in Rome. It was only after staying at an Indigo hotel in Florence, for the same price, that I realized how excellent this one truly is. The family room had two separate, spacious, and private areas. The hotel breakfast was incredibly refined, served in a beautiful setting, and the coffee was professional-grade.

Great location, very convenient, and friendly staff. The breakfast wasn't very diverse and was a bit cold, but the view was fantastic.
