Colonna Palace Hotel

The room was very clean, and they had watermelon for breakfast!! In 38-degree Italy, having unlimited watermelon in the morning was pure bliss! Plus, the hotel's location is excellent; you can walk to attractions like the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon.

The hotel is very safe, and within walking distance to all the attractions. The staff are enthusiastic.

The room facilities were great, and the breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The terrace had a nice view, and the location was convenient. The only issues were that I couldn't send photos or videos on WeChat using the hotel's Wi-Fi, and there was no signal in the room without Wi-Fi.

Overall, my experience at Hotel Colonna Palace was quite good. The location is very convenient, with plenty of amenities nearby. The hotel itself has an elegant, classic design, and the public areas are clean and well-lit. Check-in at the front desk was efficient, and the staff were friendly and responsive. The room size and natural light were pleasing, the bedding was comfortable, and the soundproofing was decent. The breakfast offered a good variety of options, with a nice selection of hot dishes and fresh fruit. If you're looking for good value and comfort, this hotel is definitely worth considering.

Aside from its safety, this hotel was pretty mediocre. The interior decor, bedding, and bathroom felt like something out of a 90s motel in China. For drinks, there were only two paper cups, and the bathroom only had one glass for brushing teeth. The whole room felt very old, and the soundproofing was terrible, making it quite noisy.

Location: The absolute best thing about this hotel is its fantastic location! It's within walking distance of the Trevi Fountain and the Pantheon. On our first day, we were just out shopping and suddenly found ourselves right in front of the Pantheon. Being next to the Parliament building and police station also gave us a great sense of security. Getting to bus stops is very convenient, and you can get direct access to the train station and major attractions. However, it can get a bit noisy around midnight due to traffic, and the wooden windows don't offer much soundproofing. Facilities: The facilities are comparable to a budget hotel back home. There was no toothpaste, and only paper cups were provided. The TV was surprisingly small, which honestly shocked me a bit – I even started telling myself I'd have to stay in a really nice hotel back home to balance it out. You have to ask the front desk for a kettle. Basically, the facilities are just about acceptable. Service: Overall, the service was good; no complaints there. Breakfast is served on the rooftop terrace. The food is pretty standard 'Western' fare, but it's decent enough.

Due to jet lag, I woke up at 2 AM on the first night and couldn't fall back asleep. It was probably breakfast and coffee time back home... but it was the middle of the night in Rome, and the hotel breakfast started at 7:30 AM. I was on my phone in bed until 4 AM. Feeling restless, I called the front desk to see if there was any way to get a cup of coffee. I wasn't very hopeful, but the person on the other end said they could specially make one for me, which I was so grateful for 🥹. All the hotel staff were very friendly. The hotel's location is excellent. The farthest I walked was to the Vatican, and it took me a leisurely 45 minutes. If you walk fast, it would definitely be under 30 minutes. Other attractions are even closer. There are restaurants all around, offering every kind of food imaginable, and for shopping, it's just a two-minute walk to the shopping streets leading to the Spanish Steps. One of the reasons I considered this hotel initially was safety. It seems there's a council building opposite, with numerous police officers around all day. As long as you don't stay out too late, there's not much to worry about. Also, personally, I think the safety concerns about Rome are a bit exaggerated on Xiaohongshu (a Chinese social media platform). Just be mindful of your belongings and don't flaunt your wealth, and you'll generally be fine. The hotel breakfast didn't have many options, but the bread was delicious. Being on the top floor, the view was beautiful and very pleasant. Now for the cons, which I personally found tolerable: 1. It's relatively old, but it's clean, which is a big plus. 2. The elevator is small and a bit slow to respond, but it closes within three to five seconds once you're inside. On my first day, after checking in, I was going up to my room. Three people went in before me, and I couldn't fit with my large suitcase. The elevator door finally closed, but then inexplicably opened again. A woman inside angrily told me, "Stop pressing it!!!" I was bewildered and retorted just as angrily, "I didn't even touch it!!" The woman fell silent, and I waited for the other elevator to arrive and left first. 3. Soundproofing is average, so light sleepers should take note. 4. No free drinking water. The mini-bar items are chargeable. So, you can buy water at a nearby supermarket. 1.5 liters costs 0.88 Euros. In summary, I would choose to stay here again next time.
