The hotel is in a small town, the environment is super good, some rooms can see the Neuschwanstein Castle from the window. The breakfast is also rich. There is no elevator, so you have to go up and down the stairs with your suitcase.

The hotel was very considerate and gave us small gifts (gummy candies) on the bed. It's a pity that there is no air conditioning, but when we stayed it was in the teens (12-20 degrees), which was okay; and our room was next to the road, so it was a bit noisy, but it was acceptable. If you open the window, you will hear the bell ringing from time to time! So we closed the windows and slept. There is an Italian restaurant opposite the hotel, which is delicious and affordable. Overall, I would recommend this hotel!

We were delighted with our two night stay here! We booked an “extra large” room and it was huge! The bed was extremely comfortable and the space was quiet. The shower was large and wonderful. The enormous bathtub was a treat as well. There’s a furnished patio area in front of the building where we were able to relax with a glass of wine after a day of visiting Wurzburg and exploring Rothenburg. We appreciated the included parking and easy access from the highway. In my view, Alter Ego combines the advantages of an Airbnb (independence and kitchen facilities) with those of a high calibre hotel (staff available - at Villa Mittermeier next door - to assist and/or answer questions). Each of the three staff people with who we had some interaction were polite, kind, and helpful. We didn’t realize it till we were on the verge of departure but there are laundry facilities available at Alter Ego. In short, if we were ever going to visit Rothenburg again this would absolutely be our first choice for accommodation.

Old hotel - restaurant, all wood structure! The interior decoration is also very old, full of wood flavor! Can visit, accommodation is not very recommended!
