Novotel Rotorua Lakeside

We stayed here for two days and one night during this Easter holiday, and this was a very disappointing experience. Our check-in time was supposed to be 2:00 pm. However, when we arrived at 3:00 pm, we were told that the room was still not ready. We ended up waiting until almost 5:00 pm before we could finally check in. This was unacceptable, especially during a holiday period, and it showed very poor management. When we entered the room, we were shocked to find that the toilet had not been cleaned properly. There was still human waste left on the toilet seat area, which was extremely unhygienic and unpleasant. The breakfast experience was also disappointing. Food was not refilled properly, and several items were left empty for a long time. On top of that, the coffee machine was broken. The location is good, but the hygiene, service, and overall management of this hotel were very poor. It is very disappointing to see a hotel being run like this during the Easter holiday. We expected a much better standard from Novotel, but this stay left us very dissatisfied.

I booked 3 nights for this Hotel, but I could not check in on the first day due to cancellation of flight. I knew the term of Hotel did not allow rebate for the first night, but even though the lady Attendant at Concierge of Hotel knew my unpleasant event, she was not sympathized and concerned my unpleasant event as well as she also was inpolite. Besides, my room was not completely made up and the services of staff at restaurant was very poor during my breakfast. The overall CP was very low. I will not choice this Hotel in future.

Good location right in the city centre can walk out and you’ve got a big choice of places to eat an drink. Still need a car or taxi for the geothermal park.

The room was clean and comfortable, though it does feel a bit old-fashioned. While the furnishings are slightly dated, everything was well maintained and functional. The bed was comfortable and the room was quiet, making for a good night’s rest. Overall, it was a decent stay, especially for the price.
