The Hyve Budget Hotel Rotterdam

I really liked the hotel, especially the staff was polite and loyal to everything.

Hotel was decent for price, good bed etc. only downside through booking with trip was there was a required 75€ cash security deposit which you get back when you check out, which we were able to do, but was very frustrating as we then had leftover change from the trip which we would not of had to get out otherwise.

Location is exceptional - just outside Markthal and a 5 min walk from the harbours. 20 second walk from Rotterdam Blaak Train and Metro Station. You do get what you pay for however - rooms are VERY small (as depicted). There is a Shared “kitchen” area with tea / coffee also there. Our shower didnt drain properly and so anything longer than 5 mins flooded the hotel room lol. Also no privacy in the bathroom - no lock and its frosted glass so be wise who you share it with! Only had 2 flat pillows for a double bed so that was a bit meh. Also a draft in the window so being December it was quite cold. AC / heating didn’t work either. TV worked with Netflix and Youtube, and you could stream from your phone but this was a bit temperamental. Reception were kind but seemed a little unorganised / unsure about things. Would defo come here again however for a budget stay in the city, the location is absolutely unbeatable :

I knew it was small when I booked but it felt smaller when in the room, especially without a window. The receptionist tried to charge me a cash deposit upon arrival. Not sure how legit this was as I never heard about it again.

There was a constant electrical, fridge-like noise. I could hear it despite wearing ear plugs. I slept terribly. You barely have the basic necessities. Don’t even expect hanging your jacket, it will be laying on the floor. I also had to pay a 75€ deposit during check in. I paid by card and I’m still waiting to have my money back 6 weeks later. It’s rather cheap for Rotterdam but I would not recommend it if you’re planning to stay more than one night.

Good hotel for its price range and good location.
