Amazing. Laid back yet inclusive opportunities to see the hidden gems of an only partially unearthed Mayan world. Ride a bike 10 minutes into an amazing archaeological site. Take a trip into a hidden lagoon with non aggressive crocodile species and spider monkeys. Float in thethe Cenote (CO2 production) and learn about the Spanish colonies and Mayan dissolution. All inclusive is not just for food but for the tours. The knowledge and understanding gained in this immersive experience is enormous. It will likely go viral. On the one hand that will be great for the communities, on the other hand it will change it completely. We feel so lucky to experience this before the Mayan Train gets here but can truly say that this is a perfect experience for those who are curious.

We only stayed two nights, and unfortunately there was a rainy cold front which prevented me from using the pool. It is so lovely, that made me sad. At least there is a very large palapa sitting area with a bar and restaurant so we didn’t have to stay in our room the whole time. It is a nice size small resort, and easy to get around with paths through the lush jungle. The rooms are lovely, large thatched roof porch with a hammock and furnishings. Unfortunately again, the roof had some holes and leaked and it was all wet so I didn’t use it, including the hammock. The room was large, bedding very comfortable with fluffy pillows and very soft bedding! The sheets smelled nice and clean! There are nice handmade wooden shutters on the doors and interesting sliding screens that covered the widows so it was and dark for sleeping. Our first night we had turn down service with a treat. I. The morning a basket of coffee was left on the porch with some sweet breads. But the rules said no food or drink was allowed in the room! Lol The meals were very good. Usually All Inclusive serves buffets but we got to choose from daily specials and were served our meals. I liked that! Now for my problem- which was resolved. I just think it should not have occurred in the first place. This was a splurge for us, almost $300/night. When we were brought to our room it smelled musty. It should have been refreshed before they brought us. I should have mentioned it immediately but we had a long day driving in the rain and wanted to get in the room. I couldn’t sleep that night from the smell that increased as time went on. Since it was chilly we closed up the room. We should have used the AC to help but it was cold already! Besides the musty smell ( which could have been perpetuated from the rain, the bathroom had a terrible sewage smell! We were offered to move our room, which would have been a pain, so we allowed them to treat it. They poured bleach in the floor drain and it helped. Then we were afraid to shower and wash away the bleach. One thing they should mention at check-in, is that you can leave a tip for the employees at the end of your stay. We left some cash as we went but it is more convenient to leave a lump sum to be distributed amongst all the staff. I asked about the tipping policy but was not told that was an option. Overall, I think it is too expensive for what you get. We have stayed at luxury haciendas for less, and expected more here. If you can get a coupon or belong to the RCI it is worth a visit.

We were not able to stay at the resort. The location on the map is incorrect and the resort is not 8 minutes from the airport (it is more like an hour) Communication with the resort was attempted several times in several different ways and none were successful. A response came from the resort at 9:27 pm , much too late. We had to secure lodging else where. The physical location on the map is not a resort.

The staff were all amazing and made us feel so welcome. The daily activities were awesome and Don Julio, Luis, and Gerraro went above and beyond to make our experiences ( swimming in a cenote paddleboarding, kayaking, snorkeling, etc...) the most incredible time. This was our second trip and both times were amazing.

Really beautiful location, spent many hours in the pool looking into the rainforest. By far the best part is the daily activity. I thought they'd just be run of the mill and I'd end up skipping most, but they took us to such special locations - the stand out being the night time kayak in a nature conservation, just us and the rainforest around us. It was unique and so, so special. A close second was floating down the (gentle) rapids on our backs. Every guide we had was wonderful, knowledgeable, friendly, enthusiastic and professional. Often my partner and I were the only English speakers and the guides made sure we got all the information, especially on the nature hike, another amazing activity. Truly, it's hard to pick favorites. Only suggestion is come prepared - I didn't have water shoes and wished I did! The staff at the restaurant and bar were also tremendous. We had a little mishap where, despite multiple communications and reassurances, the front desk staff did not warn the chef I - with a serious gluten allergy - was coming to stay. The front desk staff could overall be better at communicating information they say they're communicating - both for fellow employees like their Chef who can then prepare ahead of time, as well as the safety of guests - but were otherwise friendly. Despite being caught off guard, Chef and the servers went absolutely above and beyond to make food I could eat - even when we went on activities they made sure a special meal was packed, and server Pablo in particular went above and beyond to make sure I got to experience as much good food as I could. I was so touched by their care, sincerity and kindness - the hotel is very lucky to have them. Absolutely recommend a holiday here!

Fabulous jungle immersion adventure! Highly recommend for a different kind of vacation. My daughter and I went for a week and everyday was a different adventure from hiking around Mayan ruins to night kayaking with the crocodiles! We started the day by the pool with an afternoon adventure or ended after a morning/day adventure. My daughter is a vegan and they catered to her dietary restrictions without making her feel out of the ordinary. We were the only English speaking guests for the first 4 days and they made us feel very welcome and provided us with an English speaking tour guide for all our adventures, by the end of the week, we learned some Spanish and taught some English! The accommodations were nice, you are in the jungle and expect some bugs! Each morning there was a basket by our door with hot coffee and pastries to have before breakfast. Each meal had a choice of two starters and 2 main meals, by the second day, the staff knew our beverage choice and delivered it at meals without even asking. The adventures were grand, although we could have been more prepared packing. Suggest- water shoes/old sneakers for the kayaking adventures, long sleeve light weight shirt for the hiking, lots of bug spray/suntan lotion, hat, nothing fancy- you are in the jungle! We did put our phones in a ziplock bag for kayaking at night and left them in van for the other kayaking trip- if you have a waterproof case/bag bring it. Some previous reviews mentioned not enough chairs at pool, we found that the adventures were scheduled in a way that guests were coming and going at all different times so we never had a problem at the pool for chairs. The pool could use a little bit of an update. There is a hot tub that we saw people use, but we did not. Wifi is only at the entrance, open lobby site- it was a great escape for us, so we didn't mind. We did see many guests in the am with their computers "working" from the lobby, but we were there for the jungle escape! We were asked what our favorite adventure was, we had 6 of them, but they were each so unique and different, we could not choose. We were told to come back again and the adventures will all be different.

The hotel is beautiful, though pet friendly and not disabled guest friendly. Pets can go into the pool, restaurant, activity vans, etc., for a sum of money, since the rule says they are not allowed, but people at the front desk have the last word. Even if guests are allergic to them, they would not respect the rules. The sense of community and interactions during the activities are very uncomfortable. Most guests are disrespectful to others. There is one pool for 41 rooms, and about 15 loungers which are separated early in the morning and even if people go to their rooms, to eat, or out, they would be rude if you use "their" lounge chairs. We tried to talk to Shirli Emily, from the front desk, to explain the dog allergy and disability for complex activities. Her take was that the guests with the dogs paid a large amount of money to have special treatment, and that the activities were set and even if the disability was explained at the time of reservation, they were not able to do anything.

For the price you pay, it needs improvement. The rooms are old fashioned. The bikes are terribly old and need not repair, but to be thrown out and get new ones for the safety of the guests, as well as new helmets. Food and drinks are average, nothing special. Staff is kind. The experiences are nice, specially kayaking in Bacalar lagoon and the nature walk through the jungle and old monatery with the guy that brings the book about the Castas in Yucatan.
