Perfect location perched at the top of the hill with stunning views, lovely atmosphere, staff couldn’t do enough for you, Danielle was brilliant, always so helpful. Rooms lovely, breakfast 10/10 everything you could want. Highly recommend.

Such fantastic staff at this small hotel. Rooms were rather dated but the bed linen and towels were all crisp and fresh. Small bar and lounge. Perfect location for exploring Rye. Breakfast was good and lots to choose from as you ordered the night before.

What a delightful hotel with old world charm. Wonderful views, cozy rooms and really the best staff in a hotel I’ve ever encountered. They are helpful and very pleasant. Walking distance from train station, shops and restaurants. Even walkable to the beaches if you don’t mind a 2.5 mile stroll. Busses run every hour if walking isn’t for you. All around a fabulous experience. Cannot wait to visit and stay at The Hope Anchor again.

Visited Rye for the first time in December and arrived after dark on a wet and windy evening. I didn't understand the the geography of the town and that the Hope Anchor was at the top of a hill and accessed by a steep cobbled street with a few sharp turns. We could park to unload our luggage but had to drive back down the same route to find a carpark, two way traffic! We were fortunate to find a space in a small one near the walking path back up to the hotel. We had to pay a small amount for the rest of that day but it is ESSENTIAL to go back later to pay for the following day unless you intend to return before 8 the following morning, the car parked beside us had a parking ticket by 9.30am. The staff at the hotel are very friendly and helpful. We had a suite which was warm and cosy despite the awful weather. It was clean but some of the furniture is very worn, especially the armchairs - one had a hole in the leather upholstery. However the bed was very comfortable and next morning we could appreciate the lovely view over the harbour. We had two televisions, one had good reception, the other didn't. We ordered breakfast the night before and arranged a time to dine so there wasn't a long wait for the cooked food. There is a table with extra things on it if you fancy something cold you hadn't ordered. I am not sure if we would stay again because of the location.

We booked a small double room for one night. The bed was very comfortable in a well-presented clean room with very nice views over the countryside. Our breakfast order was taken the preceding evening and was ready for us within minutes of our booked time. The location was quiet and we were able to park our car outside the hotel overnight although we had to move it a nearby, paid parking area in the morning. Parking throughout Rye is restricted. Staff were attentive and helpful with advice on all aspects of our visit. We would be happy to stay here again.

Being local to Rye (Hastings) we often visit Rye & was looking forward to having lunch here .walked through the door & lady said sorry we don't do food.so how do they feed their hotel guests.seems strange .there must be a lot of tourists looking to eat.so if they come here they will be disappointed.perhaps we didn't look the (Right type) of customer

A lovely and historical building. It’s dated and that shows hence not a five star rating but the key elements are there. Great staff, lovely breakfast and a welcoming place to stay. It’s pretty central to the town and if you get one of the rooms with a view you will love it. Thanks for a lovely stay.

Really enjoyed our recent stay at this pleasant hotel. Exceptionally friendly and helpful staff. Our room was very good, nice view, comfortable bed and good facilities. A few 'nibbles' on the paintwork, no doubt a job for the quiet winter months. We would recommend this hotel.

Nice hotel at the top of the hill, good views. Nice room, comfy. Room overlooking countryside.very friendly staff, little bar and seating area. Breakfast buffet, cooked breakfast was good, buffet for tea and coffee. Would recommend. Shame about parking as have to park in town and walk up to Hotel, £5 per 24hrs.
