Just enjoyed a fabulous Christmas lunch with friends. Can thoroughly recommend their Christmas food menu. Really tasty, well cooked food and very generous portions. Very friendly, welcoming and attentive staff too.

We didn’t choose this hotel, as it was booked for us for a work trip. Our room was on the first floor, and is incredibly noisy. Thumping music from the bar below is ruining what we’d hoped would be a relaxing stay on a busy working weekend. There is no indication that it will stop before midnight. I can hear the bass through my noise cancelling headphones. The room is smart but the bathroom has blood stains on the wall above the toilet. I wouldn’t recommend unless you like loud bass beats or don’t intend to actually sleep during your trip.

Appalling, the room is literally shaking from the dj, band...no mention of this when we booked, none, it actually states a good nights sleep...ive rung about 7/8 times no answer...driven miles today, exhausted. Can not sleep i can hear every single word..absolutely no regard to people staying. No heating in bathroom too.

Ive been going to the royal Alfred since 1976 ive seen it change my times i believe it's now at its best than its ever been what emlila has done with the refurbishment is amazing the bar itself is spotless well run emlila and her staff make you feel very they have a great menu to choose from which ive tried a few the Sunday lunch was outstanding and an excellent choice of beers they have great entertainment the pub is ideally located in the town the train station is opposite the pub this end of town is under regeneration so pub for will me will be the in place to go get yourself to the royal alfred you wil be made most welcome by emlila and very friendly professional staff
