We stayed 'Chez Robert' and were treated to a spacious and very comfortable room and a magnificent breakfast. Subsequently, we dined in a party of twelve and were treated to classical French cuisine cooked with artistry, elan, and aplomb by Robert. 'Chez Robert' offers an authentic French experience in this agonisingly beautiful village. If you are after chain-like choice and bargain basement prices, plus all the convenience of an urban hotel, you are missing both the point, and the opportunity. On the other hand, if you understand the full meaning of 'chef' (as in 'chef d'orchestre, for example) and desire a meaningful and indigenous experience, you will enjoy this. Other establishments may appear to offer a more 'tourist friendly' ambience (and I note, in polite disagreement, the viewpoint of the sole negative perspective of this establishment here), but for talented cookery of fine ingredients (accompanied by excellent wines) I would consider Chez Robert well worthy of a visit. I would recommend advance reservation. Ultimately, any review hinges on what one's particular tastes privilege. Heartily and genuinely commended by this particular British diner, however...a vision of France I have missed so much in the last few troubled years!
