The beds were very uncomfortable and the hotel in general quite old. The buffet for breakfast was really good though and not far from the center

Very poor insulation in the rooms, you can hear everything that happens in neighboring rooms and in the corridor. Very good location with sea view, shops and restaurants nearby.

GRACIAS

This hotel is basic and needs a good paint in rooms and balcony’s. On arrival we had to go back to reception and ask them to get someone to clean fridge and balcony as it was dirty. We paid a lot for the week’s stay and we’re a touch disappointed. The daily clean was spot on. The staff we found on some days rude not sure if it was a language barrier with some. They was kids football tournament on and all the kids stayed in the hotel they was a lot of them in the sister hotel but did not effect our stay. There was plenty of choice for food in the restaurant but personally the snack bar was better but we also eat out when abroad in the evenings . Really good location.

On arrival the checkin was quick and easy, we were on the 7th floor, only two lifts to accommodate a hotel of this size is ridiculous. The flooring layout is mind bending, arrive on the 2nd where the pool and bar are, down to 1 for the restaurant, back up to 2 if you needed the loo whilst having a meal, down to -1 for the snack bar, go over to the ajoining Hotel for the spa and go down again into the belly of the building. Snack bar limited and used by park salou 1 & 2. We gave up eating in the restaurant, the food was repetative and extremely salty. The coffee was like dish water..... nasty. We had a double room with a beautiful seaview, the beds were very comfortable, the door to the balcony and window in the bathroom didn't lock, my partner not seeing this as an issue but I think they should of. The bathroom was very tired, terribly stained toilet (not of our making) the shower wad grubby but very powerful on a plus. The cistern lid didn't fit properly so looked filthy. There was no loo brush, cleaned up best you could but anything left was down to the cleaners which is awful. A do not disturb sign was put on the door as we like to clean up after ourselves yet this was put back inside the door, the beds straightened and bin emptied, DND means do not come in. The tv had bbc news and one GB cartoon channel, now I know you don't come away to watch tv but both of us were poorly at different times, leaving one alone in the room with nothing to do or watch, a radio station playing some English music kept the walls from closing in for a short while. If you suffer from any mobility issues, please bear in mind that access to the beach is extremely steep or has step after step after step and if it rains both of these become very slippery. Sadly we will not be returning to this hotel and the four stars next to the hotel name should be reduced or taken down.

The 4R Salou Park 1 is a 3 star hotel (downgraded from a 4 star earlier this year) located about a twenty minute ride from Reus airport. The hotel sits at the top of a long street lined with shops and bars with access to a small beach towards the rear and down a short path. The hotel shares the poolside bar and a second pool with its sister hotel (Salou Park 2) located next door. You enter the hotel up some steps and through the main doors to the left which open into a large reception area. We had a short wait before we got checked in. They take a copy of your passport, you pay the resort tax (which varies on the star rating of your hotel and number of nights you are staying) and you have to digitally sign to say you will adhere to the terms and conditions of all inclusive. I found this quite odd because I have never had to do this before and along with all of the other pieces of information you are given, appears to suggest you may be dishonest which I did not feel was very welcoming. The other pieces of information you are given are about the facilities, the all inclusive times and the rules you have to follow. I did find some of the information confusing and conflicting because one document says you have to pay for alcohol during meals and another says it is included so it is quite confusing. NB - I asked about the alcohol situation to a member of staff in the restaurant who looked at me like I was stupid and then she and her colleague shared a joke at my expense as I walked away and they both looked at me and laughed. When you check in, if you are all inclusive, you are given a wristband that has a barcode on it. This is used when you are ordering drinks or food from the poolside bar and it gets scanned every time. If you lose it or it becomes unreadable the hotel reserves the right to not honour all inclusive. The other thing you need to keep safe is the card folder your key card comes in as this has your room number on and you need to show this on entry to the restaurant. To the right of the main reception are two (very slow) lifts, an information screen where you can read about and buy tickets for local attractions. The hotel has 9 floors and we were on the 8th. One of the positives about the hotel was that I found it to be very clean even though in places, it is tired and very worn. We had a double room which also came with a single bed. We paid extra for a balcony view which was worth it because you can see Portaventura in the distance. There is a TV and a remote (showing BBC News in English) as well as a fridge and a chair. There is a desk under the tv that has a mirror above it. It was great that there was a fridge because it was around 28 degrees most days so having access to cold bottles of water were helpful. WiFi is free in the hotel so if you do like to watch something in your room other than news, you may need to take a phone or tablet and connect to the Internet. The room has air conditioning but this only operates

Just come back from spending a week here with my partner. We were delayed so didn’t get to the hotel until 3am, to which the guy on the receptionist was miserable and did not explain anything to us. We got to our room, it wasn’t too bad not as modern as I thought with it being a 4 star and looked really modern on advertisements. There were two single beds pushed together. It was generally clean, cleaners came in everyday with fresh sheets and towels. There was no iron facilities in the room which was a first for us, we always have them provided in the rooms on other holidays. The pool was absolutely freezing but wasn’t really an issue for us as it was quite warm. But that was always clean. You got your own sun beds and could sit anywhere around the pool. It did get quite busy as the sister hotel doesn’t get much sun around their pool and so people were using the pool to 4R 1. We updated from half board to all inclusive as this was more financially better for us, however the food here was absolutely vile. Unless you like seafood, you don’t get much option! The options you do get are raw. It’s a buffet style, I got a burger one evening and it was not cooked whatsoever. The chicken most nights were pink inside. We wasn’t the only people to complain about the food here too. I’m quite fussy so I struggled but my partner liked seafood and he even said he regretted upgrading to all inclusive due to the food! The drinks choice for all inclusive were reasonable, a lot of cocktail choices and spirit and mixers! The draft beers, Estrella and Mahou, which were always flat. Entertainment was basic, you can attend either 4R1 or 4R2 hotel for different entertainment. Ranges from Karaoke, dancers, singers and actors! Overall we would not return to this hotel, especially due to the food being under cooked and caused us to be poorly. We refused to eat in the hotel for the last two days of us being there! Other than that, it’s in a great location and a lot of surrounding restaurants which are really nice! Shops and supermarkets located close and the beach is a 5-10 minute walk!

Definitely not 4 star as is on the building or even 3 star plus jet 2 rating. Badly needs a refit. Bathrooms grotty broken dirty tiling, shower flooded room as it wouldn't stay on holder. Cracked toilet, paint peeling off seat. Wardrobe broken wood. Uncomfortable beds, we were 3 ladies and got 2 single beds and a 'Fold up' bed which is only fit for a child, complained but they said had no other rooms free that had 3 beds in it. So why when you book 3 Adults do they put you in that room for a start? Fridge useless kept defrosting and was full of water, ruined our snacks. 2 very small slow hot lifts that take forever, not enough for size of hotel. Spa was closed all time we were there ! Outside main pool area had broken floor tiles that were very dangerous, an Abandoned pool bar. NO PARASOLS! It's in a good location if your fit as on a hill but close to shops, bars and restaurants. But very noisy as all hotels have entertainment outside til midnight. Small beach down very steep steps or slope nearby. Salou is a lively resort and felt very safe and I would return but Not to this hotel as we were very disappointed in it

The hotel is spot on for the location We were on the 8th floor with lovely views of the sea The food is OK and the rooms tidy Downside,if it rains ,the floor becomes lethal in the bar area due to all the leaks There are only 2 lifts which were always busy so had to often wait a while to go up ,especially as they are small If you need reception staff, expect a wait as there is likely only 1 on I was waiting in the queue for 30 mins to get a safe key There are no kettles in the rooms ,you can hire one for a 20 euro deposit Overall ,despite the above negatives,I would stay here again
