Gur Emir Palace

Pros: The location is excellent, right next to Gur-e-Amir, and also a short walk to Registan Square. The front desk staff, especially one young man, was very helpful and responsive to any questions or issues. The rooftop terrace offers a fantastic view of Samarkand's main architectural landmarks. Cons: The bath towels and duvet covers in the room had some colored stains, not terribly dirty but not perfectly clean either. Other aspects of hygiene were acceptable. Our double room was in the basement, and we often smelled a strong, somewhat overwhelming diesel fuel odor, though it came and went. The breakfast had a wide variety, but mostly consisted of local sweet biscuits and candies. The selection of hot food and cold cuts was limited and the taste was average.

The hotel is very close to the Gur-e-Amir Mausoleum, making it easy to access tourist attractions! The room I stayed in was semi-basement and not very spacious, but the interior design was lovely. The shower drain kept clogging, which was a bit inconvenient. Breakfast was a buffet on the top floor with a great variety, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It was perfect for a relaxed morning.

There were leftover items from the previous guest, and the body soap hadn't been refilled. When I contacted them about it, they insisted the body soap should have been refilled and didn't help me. I thought the front desk staff were kind, but their service was so inconsistent, it's confusing.

Beautiful hotel, convenient location, polite staff, delicious breakfast, and a clean room!

The hotel's location is excellent; you can walk to various tourist attractions. When I arrived early, the staff helped coordinate an early check-in, and I was quickly settled into this hotel with a lot of local character. The environment is great.

The staff were all very kind, and it was great that they let me store my luggage until the evening after I checked out. Gur-e-Amir is about a 5-minute walk away, and Registan Square is about a 15-minute walk. I did notice two things: 1. The walls are quite thin. In the morning, I could hear not only the people in the next room but also conversations from the hallway, so it might be hard to relax. 2. The only power outlet was behind the mini-fridge at floor level, which was quite inconvenient.

The staff were incredibly friendly, making my stay very pleasant. The breakfast had a great variety of options, which was a plus. Having a mini-market right in front of the hotel was super convenient for quick purchases. It's also close to all the main tourist spots, which is handy. Even though it's on a narrow street, taxis can still get through, so that wasn't an issue. The only minor point was that the shower water pressure was sometimes low, and at other times it was too hot, but it was still usable, so I have no real complaints.
