Busy tour group hotel that was much less than expected in many ways Despite us being told you could walk to town It’s quite a way the centre of town and you will need taxis everywhere, esp if it is hot The rooms are comfortable but we were given an inside room with windows opening into the enclosed inner atrium so that it was very dark and the noise from the bus tour group guests talking in the atrium reverberated around and it was very loud. Others had rooms facing the outside which had more light but our friends, at least, were blighted with heavy cigarette smoke from the adjacent rooms despite them all being no smoking. The advertised restaurant was closed for guests except for the nights German tour groups were catered for. We other guests have to eat elsewhere. Fortunately two good ones were nearby and easy to walk to Breakfast is a disaster on tour group days ( most days) with food not replaced and very sp**** offerings if you arrive after the gannets at about 8.15. Instant coffee only unlike the other, cheaper, hotels we stayed in on the trip. I spent two beautiful nights and three days in Samarkanda and was fully delighted with this hotel.Quiet, staff are highly educated, welcoming, always smile pleasantly. The waitress included me a warm floor in the sauna, realizing I had not thought myself. And could save on electricity! I was very touched. Tea, coffee in the room. Beautiful breakfast, underwear, and even the coats in hotel 3*. Classic design is very beautiful, comfortable and the main thing is cleanliness! The interior courtyard is delicious. If the tour to Samarkand lasts more than 2 days, Silk Road hotels are your choice. It’s kind of like a suburb, but it’s 12 minutes by taxi to the center, 20 to the train station, 30 to the airport. The hotel is brand new, but this is probably 4+, although the food is 5 points. And at the same time, the hotel remains a place where not just professionals work, but nice and empathetic people.
