When you stay at the Hotel Sunset, you become part of the family, if that's what you want; or you have a personal concierge at the front desk if you need it; or you can be left alone to relax and reflect by the pool, if that's what you want. They even have a well run professional dive school on site, if you suddenly decide you'd like to learn a new hobby at 50 as I did.
Over my week there, they offered all that and more. My day started with a choice of 4 great breakfasts. Then if I needed help planning my day staff would help arrange a mule rental, call a cab, or just explain the local bus. When my girlfriend was trapped by a landslide outside Medellin unable to get to her flight, they even helped me book a flight for her.
When I mentioned an interest in purchasing local art, they helped me connect with a local artist friend who brought her pieces to the hotel lobby for me to select from.
When they saw me sitting alone on Christmas Eve, they invited me into their family party.
And even after I'd checked out of the hotel, my new mom was checking in on me to make sure the rest of my trip was going well.
