This hotel had zero water coming out of the shower. Not just zero hot water; NO water at all. Bed linens should have been trashed five years ago. WiFi did't work in the rooms and lobby seating was unpleasant. Check-in clerk was least friendly person I met during two weeks in Guatemala.

This is a great location for visiting the castle and right by the water. It has a restaurant and pool and a boat dock. It offers parking as well. If you are not about going up stairs make sure to request the first floor at time of booking due to the fact that most of these hotels do not have elevators. Rooms are small and compact, shower is a good size, and parking is included and guarded.

The place was dirty, service non existent. They wouldn't even give us ice! The food at the restaurant was bad to day the least. Stay anywhere else

This place has a lot of potential. It was nice and had an amazing view, but when it was time to take a shower the water wasn’t going down the drain…it was clogged and it was SO uncomfortable to take a shower. I brought I up to the front desk and they said they were going to look into it.

We could not get all our family at the more desired hotel so we had one room here. There was an issue with clear glass in the pool. The manager would not come to the area or front desk. We were told to find him in the restaurant. They deny any responsibility. I have been to the area a few times. There are better choices close by.

The hotel is really beautiful and affordable! My husband I were on our honeymoon and even though we were just there for one nigh we really liked it. I plan go back soon.

The person guarding the gate stands idle next to trash on the ground in front of the hotel…pick it up? Room was missing sound module for the speakers. They were checking but never got back to us. Wi-fi not working. Helicopter pad on dock is not welded properly. Impact load of helicopter will break the cross member structure. Limited choices at restaurant but good food and service. Construction on roof of restaurant not too bad for noise. Painful to watch slow progress. Air conditioning worked good once it achieved set point. Non-functioning light switch in bathroom. Bathroom light is controlled together outside bathroom lights. Annoying for others at night.

We came in while on a roadtrip through Guatemala and booked a fancy Master's suite. My review is honest. We paid Q1400 for the night, which is almost USD200. #1. It took a solid 30 minutes to check in. Not because there was alot of people. It was just a very slow process. #2. They charge a "recarga" of 5% if you pay with a card (an additional fee for using the card). To add fuel to that fire, they do not have an ATM, and there isn't one anywhere nearby. #3. The parking is at the bottom of the property, so you drive down close to the water to park, and then you HAVE TO (the only way) walk up ramps to get to the hotel. So, I know what you are thinking... What's the big deal, right? Well, my friend, those ramps are made of ceramic (the slippery kind) and they are located all the way around the POOL. So they are wet! We are hikers, and barely made it up. At one point, my feet slipped from under me and hadn't my husband caught me, I would have surely broken something. #4. They don't offer concierge service, so on top of #3, we had to redo the hike with our big suitcases on tow. #5. They don't have elevators, so we had to bring those said suitcases up coble stone stairs. It was highly unpleasant. We saw that there was some sort of suit case elevator on the side of the building, but we asked and were told that "everyone just brings their own suitcases up". #6. We spent USD100 on one meal. Each Coke we had cost almost 4 dollars. The food was decent, but for that kind of money we would have had 3x the meal right outside the hotel. #7. The castle is walking distance! This is the only reason I am giving it 2 stars instead of 1. #8. We called reception because all night, the suite above us was pouring water down our patio which was flooding our jacuzzi area. They did absolutely nothing, because I am guessing they are aware of the problem and choosing to not fix it. So while we tried to sleep, we had to listen to that said water beating on our patio furniture and glub-glubing in our room. #9. The jacuzzi was nasty. my husband is a stickler for germs, so we ran it before using it and long and behold, the whole thing filled up with gross brown paste. We were unable to use it, and reception "thanked us for letting them know". #10. The front staff was dismissive. Despite us forking over a small fortune for one of their best suites, they lacked the customer service you would expect from a hospitality business. #11. I need to reiterate how bad it was to climb up those slippery ramps. I just about cried, and was scared at checkout to slip on my way down. I put on my hikers, and it did help but it was still really scary and slippery.

And I fell again!!!! I thought that the bad service was limited to the Monterrico hotel and naively I went to the Río Dulce hotel and, oh! disappoin**ent!!! They have the same terrible service. They publish one price and when you arrive it is another, they charge 5% for card payment, to be served by a waiter you have to go look for them, a bed without a sheet! Really disgusting attention and service!!!!

I was about to cut my foot because there was a broken bottle that had not been cleaned in the pool area. I stood on the broken glass but fortunately I didn't cut myself, and the bottle stayed like that for hours. In the end I don't know if the person responsible told them. He warned, but that only indicates that his staff does not even check their areas constantly, but the worst thing was the attention, the service and attention much to be desired, the receptionist poorly faced, the restaurant staff also very inattentive and all poorly perceived, the good thing I can say is that the structure of the hotel is very nice and clean, and it also has a good view, although the room I had was somewhat small for the price. Sometimes you think that a not-cheap hotel is worth the attention, but this is not the case.
