An artist and writer-themed hotel, with each room boasting a unique artist theme. The lobby is even heated in summer (as Mark Twain famously said, 'The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco'). It offers superb value for money and is my absolute go-to place every time I visit San Francisco.

Superb and excellent customer service. Stay was made comfortable by CHRISTI and Edward. I liked the ambience of the place, though this is an older style building. More impressive was the large room size. We had enjoyed different pastries and fresh coffee each day during our six days stay here. Hotel is near to public transport. In every way it was a good value for money. We will certainly return to this place when next time in San Francisco

Location is a bit rough, especially at night, but still a good place overall and close to public transit. Bed was very comfortable, room was clean, not too noisy when ac is on, and the breakfast is pretty good!

My sister and I stayed at Piona Hotel for 9 nights. It's centrally located, close to many tourist attractions. Initially, we planned to explore the area on foot, but there were so many homeless people that we didn't feel safe walking around. We ended up taking Ubers everywhere we went. I definitely wouldn't recommend going out for a walk at night as it felt quite scary. However, the staff were incredibly helpful. I was very impressed and would certainly choose Piona again if I have the chance to return. I'd also recommend it to my friends. The breakfast offered a lovely selection of snacks and fruits.

The hotel was so cute and conveniently close to the center of San Francisco. The room was really spacious and the refill water station came in handy. Breakfast is just bread and bananas

Once arriving to the hotel, you’re a little thrown off because it seems more like a motel. They don’t actually have a pool at their location, you have to cross the street to their “sister” hotel the SOMA, which I don’t think is really advertised. They also do not have refrigerators or microwaves- most hotels do right? Another thing that could throw you off is the fact that you have to pay for parking, it is not included with the reservation when you book. Another thing that isn’t really transparent off the bat. Lastly, the area is so bad… you don’t have to walk not even 5 minutes down the street before seeing someone hunched over on *****. It’s not very walkable if you don’t want to encounter a lot of this.
