The Clift Royal Sonesta San Francisco

This hotel is absolutely fantastic! It's right next to the subway and bus stops, and just a 2-minute walk to Union Square. The room was spacious and clean. The housekeeping staff were also incredibly friendly, and the front desk even let me check in early.

The location is excellent! The city has really cleaned up, so there are very few homeless people and the streets are clean. It's super convenient to walk to Market Street and Union Square. There are tons of Asian food options nearby, and even a HeyTea! The hotel service is great, and the decor has a really artistic vibe. Plus, there's a cheap parking lot next door for $38 a day, which is a steal for city parking.

Don't bother with those old, overpriced hotels! This place is absolutely fantastic. You can easily walk to Union Square and MoMA from here. The breakfast is pretty good too, especially if you use the vouchers. If you're not into hotel breakfast, there are tons of great food options nearby. The doorman advised us to always turn right, never left, and we had a great stay for two nights. We tipped everyone appropriately and received wonderful, warm service. The only slight letdown was two somewhat unenthusiastic Asian staff members at the front desk and in the restaurant; everyone else was lovely. Oh, and there's a cute surprise under the big chairs in the restaurant – very charming!

Checked in at night, and the front desk staff was excellent! They even wrote down the detailed address on a small note for me – highly recommend! The location is superb, just a few minutes' walk from Union Square!

This was the first hotel we stayed at in the US, and we checked in quite late. Unlike hotels back home where you insert a card to activate the electricity, it took us a little while to find the light switches. All the lights in the room were on individual lamps; there was no main switch by the entrance. The room had a charming, very American style, feeling spacious and clean. The bed was taller than what we're used to in China (we later realized this is common here), and the mattress was incredibly soft, feeling like sinking into a pile of cotton, yet it was very comfortable for my back (we later found that all hotel mattresses here are like this, very standardized). Our reservation included breakfast, and the menu offered various set options like A, B, C, and D. It was a very American breakfast with generous portions.

I've stayed here many times. It's one of the newer hotels in San Francisco, and the price is reasonable too.
