We have just returned from a lovely week in the Hotel Alpha, and both my wife and I really enjoyed our stay. Prior to departure we read the reviews left by others, and was a bit concerned about some of the comments, especially regarding the food. However, as we had booked and paid for the holiday I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing anything so we decided to take the plunge. On arrival at the hotel we were dropped off on the main road out front, there are several steps up to the reception area, however these are not steep, and I am sure if you had requested assistance in getting to the hotel, this would have been provided. Check in was a nice quick affair, and the foyer is clean, spacious and bright, and first impressions were very positive. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom we were allocated was very roomy, with a good size king bed, which was extremely comfy, no wardrobes but plenty of space to hang your clothes and adequate amount of drawers. The toilet/shower room was big and very clean with adequate supply of toiletries provided. The balcony was a decent size for the two of us to sit in comfort and admire the view over the lemon grove directly opposite and the Bay of Naples, with Vesuvius in plain view around the coast to Sorrento. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is on a busy main road, and our room overlooked a busy side road, and although there was a lot of traffic, especially motor scooters, this didn't cause us any issues. We have holidayed in Italy for the last three years, and there is a lot of traffic wherever you go in an urban area, particularly scooters, so you will get noise, that being said, by about 9pm there was very little traffic. The glazing in the room was good enough to cut out most of the outside noise, so sleep was no issue. A lot of negative comment were written about the food, I am not a fussy eater, but my wife can be at times, and does not eat cheese. As cheese is used a lot in Italian cuisine, this may appear to be a problem to some, however, when asked if the meal could be done without cheese it was done with no complaints from the staff. I read a previous review stating no Vegetarian option for someone's partner. There was 5 starters and 5 main courses to choose from each night, at least two options from them were suitable for vegetarians. plus there is a salad bar that you could help yourself to. Breakfast was a lot better than other hotels I have stayed in throughout Europe. There is a choice of cereals, fruit, cold meat and cheeses, bread and rolls, juices, pastries and a hot option. I agree that if you get there later that it is warm, but the solution could be to get there earlier if you want it hot. After day 1 that should be evident. The waiting staff were extremely friendly, and greeted everyone with a smile and cheerful attitude. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, with lemon trees all around. The weather wasn't very warm when we were there so didn't have the o

Well run spotlessly clean hotel. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Lovely swimming pool area. Close to a main road abit noisy sometimes around pool. A flat steady walk into Sorrento centre. About 30 mins on average. Food was good some nights not so good on others. The salad buffet was very disappointing with not much to choose from. If you go for a meal much after 8.30 there won’t be much left. They don’t top things up after this time. Desserts also very little to choose from. Breakfast was typically Mediterranean with plenty to choose from plus eggs frankfurter sausages and bacon. A bigger toaster would be helpful. Generally though we enjoyed our stay. There are a few nice restaurants in Sant Agnello but you have to go down the back streets to find them. Also a few bars. Obviously Sorrento is the main attraction for food and bars. One stop on the train if you don’t want to walk is a cheap way to travel to Sorrento with the line running to Naples.

Stayed at the Hotel Alpha in September 2023 as a base for a family wedding party, the hotel was freshly refurbished on our floor and it was both presented and managed extremely well. Our room was warm or cool as required and extremely well equipped and comfortable, it was also extremely private with a lovely north facing balcony, also there were sufficient facilities for a British couple renewed daily and/or upon request. The pool was wet and warm, and there was plenty of space for lounging. Location was ideal for us although a good stroll from the centre, we found several safe routes and each time our journey was very pleasant and full of delightful views. Very easy access to public transport if you wished, which was simple to use, and incredibly cheap.. we would Definitely return to this hotel for a longer stay.. Thanks again Hotel Alpha, you were a delight..

I visited this hotel with my partner in August 2023. This was our first visit to the Sorrento area and we will 100% return to this hiotel. Everything was great including the room, food and hotel staff. All areas in the hotel were clean including restaurant, bar and poolside. The evening meals were delicious with local cuisine being served every night and the hotel staff were superb! The only minor flaw with the food were the hotel breakfasts. There was not a lot of options and the scrambled eggs were soggy and miserable. The hotel was in a pefect location and lots of small restaurants and bard close--by. 30 minutes walk to Sorrento or 5 minute train! Special shout to Mario who delivered phenomenol service every night.

We booked to return to this hotel after having a nice holiday there in 2019. We were disappointed with some areas of the hotel mainly the food. I read some reviews before we went about the food and i have to agree with some of them. Breakfast was the most disappointing it is the first time that i have not had any hot food at breakfast time ,what little choice there was did not look good and it was not kept warm enough or replaced with fresh later in morning serves / there was not enough staff at breakfast i had to go and find some one most mornings to ask for fresh coffee. Evening meals were better good choices and better service ,the pizza oven was good i had a lovely fresh cooked one and it was very big enough to share. The rest of the hotel was good reception and cleaning staff were very friendly and helpful

I had a lovely stay here. All was great, clean room, balcony and hotel staff all excellent and helpful. The reception staff can answer every question there is! You can even arrange excursions from this hotel. I enjoyed a little time in the relaxing beautiful garden. I was on holiday solo with Jet2 from Scotland. I found the Sant Agnello area to be very good also. Firstly it is all flat and easy to walk around, and has a beautiful seafront, churches etc Secondly it has excellent transport links, you can leave this hotel and be standing n Sorrento in around 10 minutes by bus or train for just around 2 Euro. There is therefore no need to walk in the hot weather but you can do if you want, abour 20 mins walk to Sorrento. This is an advantage over some Sorrento hotels where you might be up on the cliff and need taxis etc. There is also a beautiful pool though I didn't have time to swim as I wanted to go to so many places such as Pompeii, Ercolano, Positano , Capri etc all an hour or so away.

The hotel was very good. Only issue was it’s a bit far out of town centre….30mins walk. The rooms were modern and well stocked bathrooms. The staff were friendly and helpful. The dining room was clean and plenty of choice for breakfast. We were half board and choice of meals were limited. Great pizzas though. Nice hotel if you wish a quiet holiday.

This was our third stay in Sorrento. Chose the hotel based on cost and positive reviews earlier in the year. Plus points- Clean and modern rooms on the second floor. Great showers with plenty of hot water and towels changed daily. Hotel is handy for train station and it’s easy to get train into Pompeii, Herculaneum, Sorrento etc. Front of house and reception staff are all friendly and very helpful Bar staff great and range of drinks good. Negatives- Breakfast was ok as long as you only ate the cold food plus toast. The hotel did offer bacon, sausage and scrambled eggs all kept warm using candles!! Inevitably they weren’t warm and very few people eating it- a bit of a clue that the staff and management should really be looking to improve. Evening meals were very hit and miss- some nights ok, other nights dreadful. Restaurant manager not particularly friendly. The hotel was approx 30-40 mins walk from Sorrento. 30 minutes down the busy Corso Italia and 40 mins if you choose the more scenic route. We do enjoy a walk, but be advised that either way the route isn’t exactly picturesque so don’t expect a relaxing stroll into the centre. Poor disabled access with lots of steps at entrance- not an issue for us but certainly something the hotel management should consider. That said, I have noticed that the hotel management haven’t commented on any recent posts which is in itself disappointing- the Hotel Alpha has the potential to be a great little gem of a hotel with a few basic improvements like ensuring hot food is kept hot throughout breakfast service, a less hit and Miss evening menu selection and possibly adding the option of a shuttle bus into town.
