Good swimming pool Location not bad It was far from Sorrento station, but close to Sant'Angelo station, which was nice. There is also a terrace so you can smoke. Overall, I was very satisfied.

Firstly the positives! 60 minute private transfer Bright and welcoming reception/lounge area with a speedy check-in and very helpful and professional receptionists; we arrived midday and room was available. Carmella had arranged for bubbly on ice in our room for our anniversary. Allocated rm 212 which was newly refurbished, spotless, bright and airy with a good bathroom. Our balcony looked out onto Versuvio and sea in the distance. We had booked half board so sampled and paid for lunch in the hotel. Adequate choice but quite highly priced. Dinner at the hotel was extremely disappointing in quality and quantity. If we could have withdrawn our HB option and gone B&B we would have done so in a heart beat. You had to order all three courses, food came out very quickly, no rest in between, eating dinner outside was for a la carte dinners only, HB guests were segregated. The front of house restsurant staff were quite obnoxious as was one particular barman. The waitresses were genuinely nice and helpful, Elena & Erica in particular. We spent three evenings eating in Sorrento and a couple of times having lunch up the road at Peppino which was good. The pool area was pretty, pomello and orange trees to shade under. The pool surrounds needed weeding, hedges and garden areas needed trimming/cutting. Plenty of sun loungers available, the pool area had busy roads on two sides which made it rather noisy The train station was less than a ten minute walk away with regular trains into Sorrento - a must if you want to experience hustle bustle and atmosphere in the evening, cafes and restaurants in abundance. Whilst Sant Agnello has a couple of bars, they are pretty basic. All in all, there were pros and cons. We would not necessarily return but acknowledge it's a good little hotel to use as a base but only if we could book B&B ! We went with JET2 who were amazing.

Just came back from a week here, the hotel itself and grounds were stunning and I was pleasantly surprised as I didn't think the photos did it justice. We stayed in a comfort room which was very large, balcony which overlooked the garden which we were happy with. The food at lunchtimes was fab, as well as the drinks and ice creams available for you throughout the day and the staff were lovely. The location is further out from central sorrento then we realised and we ended up late to a reservation as we get lost! Highly reccomend getting the train which is 1 euro 50, and takes two minutes, the station is just a 5 min walk to the left. This train also can take you to Naples and Pompeii which we did so great location for this. We had half board but chose not to eat here as we didnt like the dinner food and the breakfast never changed and we felt it wasnt much choice compared to most hotels we have stayed in so were disapointed but had many great meals out instead. The room we stayed in though we were very happy with it, it was very noisy, we could hear peoples conversations through the bathroom vent, toilet flushes and was very loud at night but we were so tired from sightseeing we managed to block it out but something to bear in mind. Overall a great stay!

We are still currently part way through a weeks holiday at this hotel so can only comment on our stay so far but wanted to while things are still fresh in our minds. We arrived when the restaurant had stopped serving which we had anticipated so we had grabbed a sandwich to eat on the transfer but the hotel very kindly offered to keep the restaurant open for us. As we were tired we didn’t take them up on this but we were very grateful for the offer. The staff have all continued to be so friendly and approachable until tonight when we decided to eat here for the first time despite having a half board package( it was the only option and we usually like to eat out) The half board menu available between 7 and 9 pm has usually been posted outside the restaurant along with the a la carte menu which was available until after 11pm. Tonight it didn’t get put up till about 5 pm. The Maitre d’ so far at breakfast has been friendly and helpful but it very quickly became apparent that wasn’t going to happen tonight. He was brusque to the point of rudeness asking what we wanted for every course as quickly as possible. There was no wine included. Ok maybe this doesn’t always happen but we ordered a glass of wine each anyway for 7 euros each. What we didn’t expect was to be charged 4 euros extra for still water and have to sign for it. However it just went from bad to worse because what followed was very bad. The food can out very quickly clearly having been sat for some time. I had risotto to start and my husband some sort of fried noodle dish. We are unsure because when he tried to ask what it was this was all he was told. Noodles! These weren’t too bad but my chosen main of beef stew turned out to be unavailable so I got mixed meat skewers. Well it wasn’t skewers It was one skewer of one piece of sausage and three other pieces of different chewy meats that were unidentifiable. There was a teaspoon of lukewarm green veg and about 10 very small again lukewarm parmentier style potatoes. It was very bad. My husband had 2 mushroom croquttes with the same accompaniments. We had tiramisu cake to finish which was actually ok. I think we were too shocked to say anything negative to the servers who were still lovely but left feeling completely deflated by the whole experience which lasted probably less than 45 minutes. To rub salt into the wound we had to walk past the a la carte section which was across the other side of the room and outside being given much better standard of food and limoncello liqueurs at the end of it. We felt like second class guests when we had actually already paid for our meals in advance and should have been treated accordingly. We obviously won’t be eating dinner again here after being so poorly mistreated. What a shame when everything else has been lovely. Here’s hoping everything else stays good🙁🤞

Having lived in Italy for 16 years and travelling extensively, there are a few things that I don't like about Italian hotels....the Alpha is not your typical Italian hotel! The beds are comfortable, there are tea and coffee facilities in the room, and the breakfast is really good. Location: The hotel is a twenty to thirty minute walk from Sorrento (depending on the heat and whether you're going there or coming back) It's a very pleasant walk, you can also take the train and be there in a couple of minutes. Personally, I'm glad that I didn't have a hotel in Sorrento; it was busy, crowded, and the service in the Alpha was perfect. The train station is a few minutes away on foot and the hotel also offers parking (although I didn't drive this time) Food: There are a few nice restaurants in the vicinity (I'lll write reviews on those too so won't include details here) but the hotel restaurant is also excellent and I would recommend eating here too. The pizzas are amazing and the Fritto Misto was also excellent and well priced. Breakfast was a real treat, cooked options (not UK style cooked, but hot items - eggs, sausage, bacon) pancakes, traditional Italian sweet choices, fruit, yoghurt. No cereal though if you like that. Coffee and tea made to order. Facilities: I didn't get in the pool, there were a few brave souls that did, but it's not heated. The loungers were very welcome poolside and in the surrounding garden. Staff: Every member of staff I encountered was happy and smiling, and after the first day they also remembered me which is nice. A good team who clearly enjoy their jobs. Atmosphere: The other guests were a mix of ages and nationalities which was nice. There were a few solo women travellers and friends travelling together. I think there were also a few guests who knew each other, maybe a group, or maybe they were regulars. The atmosphere was quiet but cheerful...a very nice experience.

We enjoyed the hotel, we were Bed and breakfast only, as we wanted to eat out in Sorrento and surrounding areas, breakfast was very good, something for all. Pool was lovely, and all staff were very welcoming and polite. Room was very clean and tidy, no issues and chambermaids were excellent. We had a garden room downstairs.

From start to finish this is a great hotel for location, food, service and cleanliness. My wife and I stayed half board for one week and easily visited Pompeii on the train (about 40mins), Sorrento (just one stop), and Amalfi, Positano and Capri by ferry from Sorrento Port. The staff in reception, the bar, the pool bar and the restaurant were so attentive and gave great service. The restaurant team lead by Silvio M were superb. The food was some of the best hotel food we have ever had. Silvio, the Head Chef and other team members had only been working at this hotel for about 3-6 months and have greatly improved it, if you read some of the reviews from last year I believe you would read mixed reviews, but there was nothing we could complain about, we had an amazing time. The rooms were very clean with large beds, walk in shower and a/c. I would strongly recommend anyone wanting a base to explore this area of Italy to use this hotel!

We have just returned from a lovely week in the Hotel Alpha, and both my wife and I really enjoyed our stay. Prior to departure we read the reviews left by others, and was a bit concerned about some of the comments, especially regarding the food. However, as we had booked and paid for the holiday I couldn't be bothered with the hassle of changing anything so we decided to take the plunge. On arrival at the hotel we were dropped off on the main road out front, there are several steps up to the reception area, however these are not steep, and I am sure if you had requested assistance in getting to the hotel, this would have been provided. Check in was a nice quick affair, and the foyer is clean, spacious and bright, and first impressions were very positive. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. The bedroom we were allocated was very roomy, with a good size king bed, which was extremely comfy, no wardrobes but plenty of space to hang your clothes and adequate amount of drawers. The toilet/shower room was big and very clean with adequate supply of toiletries provided. The balcony was a decent size for the two of us to sit in comfort and admire the view over the lemon grove directly opposite and the Bay of Naples, with Vesuvius in plain view around the coast to Sorrento. As mentioned in other reviews, the hotel is on a busy main road, and our room overlooked a busy side road, and although there was a lot of traffic, especially motor scooters, this didn't cause us any issues. We have holidayed in Italy for the last three years, and there is a lot of traffic wherever you go in an urban area, particularly scooters, so you will get noise, that being said, by about 9pm there was very little traffic. The glazing in the room was good enough to cut out most of the outside noise, so sleep was no issue. A lot of negative comment were written about the food, I am not a fussy eater, but my wife can be at times, and does not eat cheese. As cheese is used a lot in Italian cuisine, this may appear to be a problem to some, however, when asked if the meal could be done without cheese it was done with no complaints from the staff. I read a previous review stating no Vegetarian option for someone's partner. There was 5 starters and 5 main courses to choose from each night, at least two options from them were suitable for vegetarians. plus there is a salad bar that you could help yourself to. Breakfast was a lot better than other hotels I have stayed in throughout Europe. There is a choice of cereals, fruit, cold meat and cheeses, bread and rolls, juices, pastries and a hot option. I agree that if you get there later that it is warm, but the solution could be to get there earlier if you want it hot. After day 1 that should be evident. The waiting staff were extremely friendly, and greeted everyone with a smile and cheerful attitude. The grounds of the hotel are beautiful, with lemon trees all around. The weather wasn't very warm when we were there so didn't have the o

Well run spotlessly clean hotel. Staff were very attentive and helpful. Lovely swimming pool area. Close to a main road abit noisy sometimes around pool. A flat steady walk into Sorrento centre. About 30 mins on average. Food was good some nights not so good on others. The salad buffet was very disappointing with not much to choose from. If you go for a meal much after 8.30 there won’t be much left. They don’t top things up after this time. Desserts also very little to choose from. Breakfast was typically Mediterranean with plenty to choose from plus eggs frankfurter sausages and bacon. A bigger toaster would be helpful. Generally though we enjoyed our stay. There are a few nice restaurants in Sant Agnello but you have to go down the back streets to find them. Also a few bars. Obviously Sorrento is the main attraction for food and bars. One stop on the train if you don’t want to walk is a cheap way to travel to Sorrento with the line running to Naples.
