Mas Tapiolas

Gorgeous place in a great location and the food is exceptional. Immaculate and comfortable room which included a separate place for our teen which was perfect. Plenty to do locally and easy to get into Barcelona. For more relaxing days the pool is perfect and we had fun playing pitch and putt.

The hotel offers an excellent environment for a leisurely weekend with family, nestled close to the coast yet surrounded by forest. The restaurant provides an outstanding culinary experience. The bar, featuring a charming fireplace, is a delightful spot to enjoy drinks and appreciate the crackling of wood in the fire, adding a soothing element to the serene atmosphere. Additionally, the spa adds the final touch, completing the full relaxation experience for guests.

Rooms - triple rooms are a great size with an outdoor area and large bathroom. It’s very comfortable. Note, the walls are too thin and we could hear people in the next room talking and their little brat devil child constantly moaning and crying. Breakfast - extremely generous. You will be well fed and satisfied. Wide variety of cooked foods, local hams and cheese, breads, pastries, fresh summer fruits, etc Amenities - Excellent. Grounds are beautiful, plenty of free parking. The spa area is great and free for guests (there are also paid services like massages, etc). Pool is very big with plenty of sun beds. Restaurant - exquisite food in the restaurant where we ate dinner twice. Excellent food quality and variety. Staff - courteous, polite, helpful, multi-lingual. Suggestions for improvement are (just my opinion): 1. If this was an ‘adults only’ hotel, it would be the best hotel on the Costa Brava. Unfortunately, most parents don’t control the bad behaviour of their children which can affect the stay for other guests. For example, 2 times at dinner we left the hotel restaurant early because of kids that would not stop screaming and/or crying. 1 time we left the pool area for the same reason. That shouldn’t happen when guests pay good money to stay in a peaceful and tranquil environment 2. No smoking zones - it’s completely unreasonable to have disgusting and toxic cigarette smoke in my face while eating at breakfast, or at dinner, or by the pool. For the comfort and health of the non-smoking majority, designated smoking areas should be considered. This is the case in most 1st world countries and specifically in public places.

This is a really lovely hotel in a beautiful setting. Here’s my review Room I do regret not asking for a view towards the pool. Ours had a view over the car park and wedding venue, which was perfectly fine. There was a wedding while we were there but it didn’t disturb us at all if the balcony door was shut. The room was beautiful and the little annex for our teenager worked well. The cleaning team were exceptional and every time we returned we collectively sighed with contentment. In the main part of the room we didn’t encounter any of the noise problems others have, but my son said he could sometimes hear people returning to their rooms after he was in bed. I think some rugs in the hall would solve that. Only real gripe, that the hotel can’t really change, is that occasionally there were rather pungent farm yard smells. We just closed the balcony door. The Outside Areas The Pool is gorgeous. Plenty of sun beds and even when the hotel was busy the pool never felt too busy Pitch and Put - for amateurs like us this was great fun and a nice way to spend time. Grounds - beautifully kept. Spa - lovely spa but horrendous invasive music. It’s a shame the time you can take children under 16 is limited to an hour in the morning (good for little kids but not a teen) and an hour in the afternoon. Would be nice to have another hour about 4 or 5. Restaurant/bars As others have said the breakfast was extraordinarily good. Best I’ve ever had. Evening meals were delicious. Reception bar - rarely anyone there to serve so we usually gave up Pool bar - good range of snacks and drinks. Sometimes had a bit of a wait for there to be somebody to serve. Could be frustrating re language as my Spanish is non existent and some of the staff speak no or little English. We mainly managed, but I’d recommend learning some key phrases in Spanish before you go. Local Area There is a lot to do locally. But you need to book things. Especially all three Dali places. And before you go - his house was already fully booked when we arrived. Local beach resorts were impossible to park in. We managed to get into Sant Pol on our last day by going at 5.30, but I wouldn’t recommend Platja D’Aro. If you don’t mind a half hour drive Tamarui was beautiful. We had a great day in Barcelona. Again you need to book especially Barcelona Football Club and Gaudi stuff. We got the fast train from Girona Also book parking where you can it was v hard to find spaces. If you get the chance visit medieval Pals. Overall This is a lovely hotel which I’d recommend. Being up in the mountains makes it feel remote and calm - with a breeze that helps make it never feel too hot, even in August. I’ll miss the lovely bell of the monastery chiming across the valley.

Hotel setting and rooms were lovely but overall the experience could have been better. Staff were welcoming but didn’t explain all the facilities and how to use them. Nor did they offer any suggestions for areas to visit / things to do. The pool bar wasn’t properly staffed and was a bit tatty - gravel/sand surface which wasn’t particularly pleasant to walk on. They could have taken much more business if they had staff walking round asking guests if they needed drinks etc. we hired bikes which were a good standard and also used the pitch and putt. Food in the restaurant was good although would have been better if menus were a bit more varied and different at lunch and dinner. We had a hybrid car and had to ask about charging points which were not in a handy location.

We stayed one week in the Mas Tapiolas. One of the best experience I’ve ever had in a hotel. Everything is almost perfect, with that special feeling that you are in the hands of professionals. We will come back, for sure!

Stayed one night as a break from camping trip nearby. Lovely place. Staff very friendly and garden room was very nice. We visited the wonderful spa twice whilst we were there and on both occasions had it to ourselves! Benefit of being a Sunday night stay out of main season I guess. Dinner was very good and breakfast was a real surprise. Lots of choice and all good quality. All in all a great stay and considering the excellent spa and breakfast, very good value for money. I’m sure we will visit again.

The hotel is great, the staff is extremely friendly and there are many places where you can sit, relax and have a coffee or a glass of wine. Indoors as well as oudoors. But we do recognise the reviews where noise from outher rooms is mentioned. You can hear everythin from your neighbours. If you are lucky, they are quiet people, if not....
