Our 1st time at this hotel and overall we enjoyed it very much. From reading other reviews everyone seems to have mixed experiences here. Like everywhere you stay I suppose. So taking that into consideration I like to be as fair as I can when writing reviews, whilst sharing our own experience. Loved the relaxed vibes including the piped music around the hotel, even the live music (cellist and violinist during breakfast on 2 occasions during our 11 night stay, and DJ on 2 occasions on the roof top terrace, but I think live entertainment in the hotel a few evenings would have been appreciated. The decor (although yes a little tired in places mainly corridor floors and sunbeds) is just beautiful. I loved the little dog in its kennel on the doorstep! (Not real of course) Our favourite spot was the rooftop terrace. Views stunning and never overcrowded. Breakfast: Great selection of food and drinks, and made to order fried eggs or omelettes was a nice touch. Toasters very slow. Our room 042 was a Xtra Beach House on floor zero. Stunning views out to sea from our large balcony with lovely day bed, and watching the sunrise was such a treat. The room was very spacious, always clean, with a fantastic size shower ( powerful and plenty of hot water). Good hairdryer and plenty of mirrors, huge, very comfortable bed and pillows too. Now our only couple of gripes: When it rained our room floor flooded (on 2 occasions)! The emergency exit door was opposite our room door, so the water flowed under it and into ours! Waking up in the middle of the night wading through water was very alarming! When we reported it to reception there was no apology or explanation from the girl at reception, but it was dealt with quickly each time. (It was eventually explained by our cleaner.) And last complaint was the peace and privacy on our balcony, ruined by the local dog walkers who constantly gathered on hotel grounds and benches under our room, particularly in the early evenings, when we liked to sit out and enjoy the sunsets. The dogs barking and people chatting loudly and staring up, was a real invasion of our privacy. So perhaps a room on the upper floors (which we did request) but is luck of the draw, would avoid this.
