"BED BUGS and MEN IN WOMEN'S washrooms!!! RUN!!!!! Filthy place. I wish I would have know that before. I stayed 2 nights with my daughter in September. I have never experienced bed bugs on the camino and this was my 6th. We thought something was biting us on the first night, only to discover on the second night that there are bed bugs. Now back home, its a nightmare trying to fumigate everything. Stay away from this place if you can. For 108 EUROS for 2 nights is outrageous for what you get. Not happy to find a man standing in womens shower. It was terrifying."

"This hotel boasts an excellent location, just a 5-minute walk from Plaza de Garcia where the airport bus arrives, and is impeccably clean, receiving top marks for its cleanliness. Although it's a small hotel, the welcoming service spirit was evident in every aspect, from the entrance, stairs, corridors, rooms, shared bathrooms, shared washrooms, and shared toilets. I arrived just before 10pm, but the man at the front desk was incredibly friendly, and we ended up chatting for quite a while (laughs). I highly recommend that everyone experience the value of this hotel for themselves by staying at Casa Douro. I booked a room-only stay. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, so it's perfect for those who only want a place to sleep. You can't understand how good this hotel is unless you stay there, right? No, no, even if you don't stay there, reading this review will make you want to book a stay. The entrance door of Casa Douro, facing the hillside, exudes a Spanish feel and became a wonderful memory of my trip."

It's expensive, the rooms are terrible, the service apathetic, the not-included functional breakfast is sparse and the expensive three page dinner menu has nothing that appeals. They seem not to care about their transient Camino clientele, avoid if you can."

"We booked an apartment in Santiago de Compostela through Airbnb. It happened to be nr.9 in Rua Maruxa Mallo 7, owned by Upper - they associate themselves with ‘luxury housing’. In short, while the bed & kitchen were ok, the apartment didn’t have any windows to open and located on the groundfloor, we didn’t have any privacy when opening the blinds. The view was on the street into a big bin. As a result, the only thing left was to keep the blinds shut. That, together with the fact there was no window to open, left us in a luxury cage.. The company wasn’t understanding the problem and refusef to give us a refund - instead of the booked 4 nights, we escaped the prison after one night. Also Airbnb couldn’t help us to get a refund. Stay away from Upper if you can.."

"A very poor 4-star hotel. We were given a room where the air conditioning didn't work, and we later realized the window didn't lock and it was a room with very easy access to the road. I complained and was given another room where the bath towels were soiled with makeup and hair. Breakfast was nice."

"The airport bus left us two minutes from the hotel, it's line 6a. We only paid one euro and it took us about 20 minutes to get there... the hotel is very well located, 10 minutes walk from the old town. There are bakeries, cafes and even a pharmacy near the hotel... the beds were very comfortable, there was hardly any noise, we rested very well, the rooms were cleaned every day and they left us clean towels, gel, etc. We paid for breakfast included and it was super good, there was a lot of variety... the receptionists were super friendly, even when leaving the hotel we left our suitcases there all afternoon when we had a flight at night... and that's a plus! They have a rest area and at the entrance of the reception there are two coffee machines and a variety of snacks in case you don't feel like leaving the hotel!!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HOTEL 🙂"

"We stayed in Hotel Capital de Galicia which is an off shoot of Hotel San Lazare. On our return stay on Wednesday 28th May around 7pm, we found that our luggage had not been forwarded by the transport company to our hotel. We went down to the reception in the San Lazare and we came across the most friendly and helpful receptionist that you could hope to find. Natalie immediately rang the transport company, got details of what had happened and then provided us with two options to get our luggage back to us that evening as we were flying very early the next morning. Once we had agreed what option we were going to take, Natalie arranged it straight away. She got us times for when the luggage was going to be delivered. Like clockwork the luggage arrived on time. We cannot thank Natalie enough for the kindness and help that she provided to us. There should be a Natalie behind every reception desk. The hotel would be wise to make sure they look after Natalie going forward. What a valuable asset to have"
