Solar Do Conde Garden Hotel

Very friendly front desk staff, good location within walking distance to the coastline, clean, safe and quiet room with good breakfast.

The hotel is located in a comfortable position, close to the north cost in a small town, just 15/20 minutes drive from Ponta Delgada & the Airport. To my surprise when we arrived there were two type of rooms, suites or bungalows, of course according to the price we paid we were assigned the suite. What surprised me that during the booking process to photos we saw were not the suites, which led us to believe that was going to look different than it actually was. The amenities were limited, there is no safe or fridge in the suites. In the bathroom the paper holder was rusted because it has been positioned under the towel rack. The breakfast included option was fine, but little limited and repetitive, fruits were fresh and good, as well as well various cheese and hams choices. If you can get a cheap price for your stay is overall a good option, but bear in mind that there are some caveats. I would suggest to the hotel to update their images on the platforms and separate clearly the type of rooms available in order to avoid unwanted surprises for the guests.

A beautiful garden hotel with a soul ; architecture partially reminiscent of its rich history (old arches, a portal, and a coat of arms); a rich flower garden in front of the hotel Simple, clean bungalows, comfortable beds; AC heating - 2 independent units in the bedroom and living room + a radiator in the bathroom helped a lot on cold days (1 foggy and 2 rainy half-days in an otherwise nice week in March) Food Breakfast- a good selection We went to the hotel dinner twice –1x good, 1x very good - a stylish dinner as a farewell party for our big group before our departure, for sure worth (more than) €17.50 Staff Very helpful and professional staff at the front desk - they really went an extra mile to meet our needs even before our arrival . Efficient everyday cleaning in the bungalows Place Capelas - a nice town; a short walk (10 min) from the hotel to the sea viewpoint on black cliffs (stunning views) , to a sea swimming pool .. We would definitely recommend this hotel and come again. A very good value for the money.

Reasonable but poorly equipped apartment, no private outside space. Swimming pool not available because of renovation. Definitely no 4 star facilities

Do not stay here. Whatever you do. Absolutely terrible management and staff.

I stayed at Hotel Solar do Conde and, unfortunately, the experience was not what I had hoped for. The biggest issue was the bed: the “double” was only 137 cm wide, which feels more like something from generations ago than a modern hotel standard. For a stay in 2025, it was surprisingly small and uncomfortable, especially for two adults. On a positive note, the buffet breakfast was quite nice, with a decent variety and good quality. However, a good breakfast doesn’t make up for a poor night’s sleep. Given the outdated room comfort, I cannot recommend this hotel. There are better options in the area that offer more modern amenities and a more comfortable stay.
