Grand Mercure Sanya Yalong Bay

The location is nice, there are 3 swimming pools and a couple of ponds with gorgeous water lilies, coi fish, geese and little frogs. The breakfast is def a must if you're looking for a good variety of food (Chinese or European). Our room was a bit old, but no odd smells, dirt or mold at least

I initially booked a room at the Grand Mercure. Upon arrival, I was disappointed as the room felt outdated and not as clean as expected. I immediately informed the reception, and they kindly moved me to the Swissôtel within the same complex. The difference was remarkable: the new room was more spacious, modern, and aligned with 5-star standards. Overall, the hotel offers good value for money considering the facilities and location. The beach is only a few steps away, and guests have access to a pleasant beach club, which is a real plus. That said, there are still areas for improvement: • There is no real bar, and dining options are limited. Breakfast is acceptable but does not fully meet Accor’s 5-star expectations. Dinner mainly consists of buffet options, which are average and overpriced. • No room service is available. • Sometimes there are not enough sunbeds, and you may have to wait for a towel. • Housekeeping starts quite early (around 9:30), which may disturb late sleepers, while breakfast service closes at 11:00. In summary, a comfortable stay with a great location and decent facilities, but with service and dining below what you’d expect from a 5-star Accor property.

I stayed there only for one night with my aunt and her friends. We all enjoyed this trip, the service at the check-in counter was great. Thanks to Steve for his help at any time we need. However, I must say that the breakfast used to be better 3 years ago. Last time I came with my boyfriend during Covid times, it was less crowded and the food was better. It doesn’t spoil the overall impression though. Highly recommended 👍👍👍
