Hotels in Yalong Bay/Tropical Paradise Forest Park/Bohou Village, Sanya

I spontaneously decided to visit Hainan for a few days during the May Day holiday and booked this hotel in a hurry. The online reviews were mixed, so I was quite apprehensive before arriving, but I ended up being quite satisfied. First, there's our butler, Cici. She's a lovely girl who was incredibly responsive to all our requests and organized everything thoughtfully. I'm really grateful to her. Second, the villa-style rooms mean you don't have to worry about noise; it's very quiet and private. The bedding is also more comfortable than what you usually find in Sanya hotels – the mattress isn't too soft, which is perfect for someone like me who struggles with sleep. Third, having a private pool means you can swim whenever you like. And right after a swim, you can hop into a hot shower; the hot water pressure was excellent. Fourth, the hotel's pest control is pretty good. There were no mosquitoes, and the villa's small courtyard only had tiny ants, unlike other Sanya villa hotels where you often see large insects everywhere. Fifth, the location is great. In a 'food desert' like Sanya, convenient food delivery is really important. Here are the downsides: First, the decor is quite basic. However, I don't really mind that; it was clean, so I was okay with it. Second, the food is just so-so. The breakfast is fine for a standard hotel, but for a resort, it's a bit subpar and the taste is very ordinary. Villa guests only get one type of fresh juice daily, and breakfast only runs until 10:30 AM. Third, aside from Cici, the other staff members seemed very unmotivated. Even though breakfast starts at 7:30 AM, not all the food was out, and there wasn't a single staff member present. During our stay, we had a minor issue with the buffet in the main building. Cici and the restaurant manager there resolved it immediately once they found out. Their attitude was great and very sincere. You can tell the hotel genuinely wants to provide good service, but perhaps they're working with a limited budget, as the hotel industry in Sanya is incredibly competitive. Overall, it's a very good value-for-money hotel, and I would definitely come back.

Went to Sanya for a vacation with friends and our kids, and after a lot of searching online, we settled on the Marriott. Turns out we made the right choice! We stayed in a deluxe sea-view room and could see the ocean every day from our window. The room wasn't old at all, and housekeeping did a fantastic job. The front desk and all the staff were very warm and polite. The beach and pool service was also excellent; you could borrow sand-digging tools, and there were plenty of swimming floats to choose from. The kids' activities were great too, though we ran out of time before we could try everything. Both kids didn't want to leave. It was truly a pleasant experience.

We have chosen to stay at this hotel for the second time and haven’t regretted not a second. During our long duration of stay which exceed 3 weeks our kids and us didn’t get bored. First of all, there are plenty activities provided by Holiday-Inn itself as well as by colocated hotel Hualuxe: shared playgrounds, pools, interactive mini zoo, activities and parties and so much more. In details there are pottery, pool bubble party, cookies crafting after which kids are welcomed to eat own made cookies (see pics) and etc. Option for buffet breakfast&dinners is just perfect - great value for money. Wide selection of European and Asian cuisine. Housekeeping duties performed by Zhou were always on point every single day. Our English speaking butler Doris helped to solve each matter addressed to her patiently and effectively. Williams the guy who drove the mini train many times just for us is just handsome. The traditional Chinese style massage downstairs of Holiday-Inn is very powerful in term of energy boosting. The one at the Hualuxe hotel Spa zone is quite calming and good for total relaxation. The fire show/Chinese mask show is must see; clowns and signature Holiday-Inn frog animator kids found memorable. We have noticed that the staff do not let any problem be without attention. There are several pointes have been improved from the previous year we lived there, such as mini train is free to Holiday-Inn guests now, buffet dinners they made are much better than previous year menu options. Those details prove the strong corporate culture of the hotel business. I definitely recommend Holiday-Inn Yalong Bay for chill and relaxing vacation. One time this place, always this place 👍

After arrival and checkin at the lobby, which was very crowded and noisy due to the May holidays, a personal English speaking guide called Steve guided me to the room and to my surprise the room was totally quiet. One cannot be disturbed by the night life in commercial street . Highly appreciated 👏. I was linked to a personal assistant Lily, she did an outstanding job. Whatever questions I had , she'd help me instantly. Even answered questions not related to the hotel but tge neighborhood. Awesome!! One night of choose to eat at the China House restaurant in the hotel and the background music was kind of disturbing, free style jazz or something. (Wondering who can enjoy dinner with such kind of music? 🤔) . Anyway I texted her and she contacted the restaurant staff immediately and they changed it. That the kind of service that makes a difference. Thank you. The hotel room is great, everything you need is there. Breakfast really good, bug variety of both, Chinese and Western food. If I come back to Sanya, it will be first choice.

This is my fourth stay at the Sheraton Sanya Yalong Bay, and the hotel's service remains as thoughtful as ever. It's the perfect vacation hotel, from its architectural design that's both simple and grand, exuding a sense of enduring beauty. Every window offers a scenic view, and the white sheer curtains in the room create a warm and lovely ambiance as the sunset light filters in. The interior layout is clean and tidy. The room service is excellent; the cleaning staff thoughtfully provided extra bottles of water because I drink a lot, along with some kind reminders. The first time I came with my parents and child, the second and third times I came alone with my child. For my fourth solo trip, I still chose the Sheraton. I was lucky enough to catch a bonfire party, experienced a bamboo dance, and even watched a fireworks show. A truly satisfying trip!

Overall, I'm quite satisfied. Staying on the ground floor made getting around incredibly convenient. The room had steps, which provided a great view. Since my home also has steps, I didn't find this to be an issue. The bed was a bit too soft; it would be great if the mattress could be replaced. I came for the public areas, and they truly were breathtakingly beautiful, with all sorts of fragrant and lovely flowers. The pool design was very unique, with many pools in the common areas. We spent at least two to three hours in the pools every day. In the evenings, we listened to live music at the bar, and the Cuban musician's singing was fantastic! I encountered a minor service issue, but fortunately, the hotel took it seriously and resolved it, especially as I saw a significant improvement the very next day. There was no mini-train, so the only thing for kids to do was play in the pool at the kids' club. The kids' club was just okay, but my child still had a great time. Breakfast was decent. While there wasn't a huge variety, for a vegetarian like me, there was always more than enough to eat and I felt quite full. The 'zaopocu' (fermented rice vinegar) noodles were especially delicious, best on the first day, but the soup base wasn't as rich on subsequent days. My child absolutely loved fried dough sticks with porridge and freshly squeezed watermelon juice. Today's hash browns were also excellent. The bread was delicious, but it had too much butter, which made me feel a bit uncomfortable, so I didn't eat it on later days. According to my partner, the fresh seafood at the buffet dinner was very fresh, but the soy sauce was too salty and not the kind used for Japanese cuisine. The BBQ was mediocre, and overall, not really worth it. The complimentary welcome fruit was of very poor quality. I suggest they stop offering it; it's a pure waste. Either offer good quality fruit or don't offer any at all. I advise everyone not to drink the green coconuts in Hainan; they taste terrible. You can buy the small 'milk coconuts' instead; they are exceptionally sweet and fragrant. Many thanks to Zoey from guest relations for helping to arrange a late check-out. In summary, if I come to Sanya again, I would still want to stay here.

The experience at MGM Grand Sanya was fantastic! The first-line sea view was absolutely stunning, the beach was fine, and the water was crystal clear. The room was spacious and elegant, fully equipped, and the bedding was comfortable. The balcony view of the sea was incredibly therapeutic. The service was warm, attentive, and very responsive. There were plenty of activities like the swimming pool, surfing, and ziplining – the zipline was particularly thrilling! The poolside BBQ was delicious, and the resort facilities were excellent. It's a one-stop shop for dining, accommodation, and entertainment, truly maximizing the vacation vibe. Highly recommend!

I stayed in Sanya for a long time, and quite a few of those days were spent at this hotel. The hotel grounds are really peaceful. Even though it's not right on the beach, the scenery within the resort is beautiful. Every time after a meal, I’d take a stroll around the grounds – it was so relaxing. The best part is it’s not noisy like the beachfront hotels. It was much better than the Hilton and MGM properties I’ve stayed at, perfect for a laid-back vacation. Plus, the hotel service is exceptional, so incredibly thorough. Every staff member is polite and handles things promptly and efficiently, far superior to many five-star sea-view hotels. And what’s even more important is how impeccably clean the rooms are! There wasn’t any strange odor; in fact, there was a pleasant scent. All in all, this hotel truly offers great value for money! I rarely write reviews, but I’m genuinely and exceptionally satisfied, which is why I’m writing this one.

We stayed here with our newborn baby. The hotel was nice and the grounds were well kept - it had lovely gardens which we enjoyed walking round with our baby. We booked the pool access room which was quite dark and smelt of damp. Although this room has pool access and a lounging area it was taken by other guest leaving their towels to reserve the beds at 7am! Other guests were also smoking in this area so it was impossible to use our own balcony. The staff at the hotel were very friendly, Jane, Anne and Emily from the hotel lobby were great when we told them about our issue with smoking around our baby. We changed to a villa which was great and definitely worth booking over the other rooms. It was bright and clean with a great big bath and lovely private pool. We ate elsewhere most of the time as during breakfast I found glass from a chipped plate in my food which I unknowingly chewed and cut my mouth. The staff offered us a free buffet dinner which we declined as we were totally put off eating there and hadn’t enjoyed the dinner when we ate there - wouldn’t recommend the food at all.

Out of the 7 days we spent in Sanya, staying at 5 different hotels, this Bird's Nest Resort was by far the most comfortable. The hotel environment is excellent. We booked a Magpie Room, and Mr. Xu, the guest relations manager who contacted me beforehand, thoughtfully arranged room 8 for us, knowing we had a child. The view from there was truly unbeatable. My child was thrilled, feeling like they were living in a treehouse. No matter where we were in the resort, the hotel could send a car to pick us up. Before checking out on the second day, Mr. Xu reminded us that we could request a late check-out and luggage service. In summary: The service at Bird's Nest Hotel is incredibly thoughtful and seamless. My family and I felt that from Mr. Xu onwards, all the staff we encountered during our stay had excellent attitudes. When we checked out, my wife, who's usually in charge at home, said: 'That guesthouse in Houhai Village was the worst booking, but this Bird's Nest was the best.' I guess my good deed balanced out the bad.
