Location is immaculate - right in the heart of the onsen town where there are many other similar onsen hotels around and a community of guests, local residents and staff, so English is well spoken in general. We also happened to experience a local lantern lighting festival (ie. Like Tangled the Disney movie) where the town come together and provide you with a map to explore local spots and have the path lit up with lanterns - a pretty cool experience! Hotel is a little old and with the humidity of onsen facilities, therefore a little moldy at times, but I wouldn’t consider it not well-maintained/unclean. Facilities are great, lots of different types of onsen to try out and the hotel tries to keep you well-fed at all times with a lounge full of snacks and drinks, and stay-included dinners and breakfasts.

This onsen hotel is definitely worth the price. The environment and hygiene are excellent, and the room layout is fantastic. The yukata was the most comfortable I wore during my Hokkaido trip. The service was absolutely superb, especially the proprietress at the Kaiseki restaurant, Shoan. She was incredibly elegant and generous, giving us an authentic and meticulous Japanese service experience. The private onsen with a fee had average views. The outdoor public onsen was closed on the day of my stay due to cold weather. The indoor onsen, for a hotel of this price point, was quite ordinary. Therefore, I wasn't entirely satisfied with the onsen experience. All in all, while it might not be exceptionally surprising, this is a hotel that's well worth its price.

Location: If you couldn't book the hotel's free shuttle or the Kappa Liner bus, you can take rapid bus #7 or #8 from Sapporo city center to Daiichi Hotel Mae, and the hotel is right there. There's also a bus to Sapporo Ski Resort that stops at the same platform. Room Amenities: The room was clean, tidy, and very spacious, and it even had its own private hot spring bath. I booked a package that included breakfast and dinner. The food was just okay, but there was a self-service bar and some snacks.

This is an older hot spring resort, and the food was absolutely amazing! Each meal had 8-10 incredibly delicious and exquisite dishes, and not a single one was repeated during our 5-day stay. The service was also excellent. The hotel itself is very quiet and peaceful, and the free shuttle to Sapporo was a great convenience.
