"There was construction going on near the hotel, so the exterior wasn't ideal. I actually booked this by mistake – who knew a small town like Tangkou would have two Hilton hotels? Haha. But after checking in, I truly understood the meaning of 'a home away from home.' The front desk staff, maintenance, Manager Wang, and housekeeping were all incredibly attentive. I booked the right place after all! Before we even came down the mountain, the front desk proactively contacted us via text and WeChat to ask if we had any special requests. Knowing we were two adults and one child, they upgraded us to a mountain-view room. When I went to buy a breakfast ticket for my child upon arrival, the front desk told me kids under 1.4 meters eat free! (The upgraded room also allowed for an extra bed! I tried it out and it was incredibly clean – pay attention to the details! I even pushed the sofa myself to block the bed, and there was absolutely no trash underneath). When we stored our luggage before going up the mountain, we chose the Hilton Garden Inn nearby. Only after coming down and checking in did I realize I had booked the Hilton Hampton Inn. The Garden Inn didn't turn us away; they explained that even though the two hotels are managed by different companies, they have a working relationship. They helped me contact the Hampton Inn immediately, and Manager Wang drove over to pick us up. For us, exhausted after coming down from Huangshan, this timely assistance was incredibly touching. They didn't even charge for the luggage storage! Manager Wang said that sometimes their guests also go to the Hampton Inn by mistake, and they don't charge for parking either. This eased my embarrassment and made me want to praise the business philosophy of both hotels – competitors helping each other out! During our stay, the TV signal wasn't very stable. I called engineering maintenance twice, and the technician with glasses arrived within two minutes each time to fix it. Thumbs up for their efficiency and great attitude. When we left, it was raining and we didn't have umbrellas. I contacted the front desk for help, and they woke up Manager Wang who was on the night shift to give us a ride! So many hotels only pick up but don't drop off; the Hampton Inn is truly heartwarming!! I'll choose your hotel again, even during the peak season in Huangshan, and even if there's no room upgrade.
