"Baien is truly the best. The private open-air bath and the large public bath are both excellent. (Note: Be sure to confirm the private open-air bath when booking your ryokan stay.) The ryokan is spacious, so walks around the property are lovely. Both breakfast and dinner (kaiseki) are also superb. However, there's no entertainment nearby, so if your sole purpose is to enjoy the hot springs, you definitely won't regret it. I'd love to visit again in winter."

"About 10 to 15 mins walk from the train station. Very quite and serene environment. From hotel to walk to the lake 20 mins, floral village etc you can easily spends hours to enjoy the scenery, lunch and shopping streets. Big and spacious onsen, the outdoor one is nice. The view from onsen and room face Mt Yufu...very relaxing and nice breakfast."

"Our stay at Yufuin ”Tano-kura” was absolutely flawless. First off, the service was truly top-notch. Our dedicated staff member (SIC) was incredibly professional and attentive, taking exceptional care of us throughout our visit. What really put us at ease was their meticulous attention to confirming food allergies, which allowed us to fully enjoy the exquisite and delicious cuisine without any worries. Every interaction, from the introduction to the hotel facilities to the meal service in our room, was handled with utmost politeness and respect. The environment was impeccably clean and tidy, making for a wonderfully comfortable stay. This trip truly allowed us to relax completely; we left feeling fully recharged and revitalized. "I didn't know the taxi fare was reimbursable when I went to the hotel, so I walked. It was a bit far, but the scenery along the way was beautiful. I crossed a small bridge, walked through wheat fields, and encountered students leaving school. The hotel was on a hillside, quiet, comfortable, and spacious. The hot spring was right in my room; the water was so smooth, and I had a wonderful sleep after soaking in it. The breakfast was plentiful, and the service was attentive. When I left the hotel, a taxi was already waiting at the door. I had a very memorable time here."

"We checked in on 15 Jan, 2026 and planned to stay at the hotel for a nite. When we arrived the railway station , we walked around for a while and got a taxi outside the railway station to the hotel without paying the fare. Probably the hotel had arranged with the taxi drivers in that area that they will pay the fare directly. The check-in procedure is easy and comfy. 2 staff lead us to our room 小樓球。It’s a very nice room with 2 private onsen. The spring water is nice and made our skin very smooth. The hotel had arranged enough drinks for us, 3 alcoholic and 3 nonalcoholic. We had our dinner at ard 7pm. The presentation of the good is very good & eye catching. However, the quality of the sashimi was not very fresh. Taste of the tuna was a bit fishy and it’s wet and found bloody water after picked it up from the dish😓. I don’t eat beef and the hotel changed the 5 pcs of wagu to 3pcs of eel which didn’t taste very well. Not sure whether they grill it or not. Also they changed the beef that served with rice to miso and I didn’t think it’s fair enough. The breakfast on the next morning was up to standard. Bread was fresh and hot. Egg and sausage were quite good. Overall, service is good but the standard of dinner made me disappointed as I had informed the hotel at least one week before check-in and I think they have ample of time to adjust the menu for me. I’ve been to some other hotspring hotels with same request of not eating beef. They had changed my menu to chicken, pork or seafood like fish or shrimp and provide the equivalent size of meat for replacement."

"Overall, very satisfied! Location: It's about a 7-minute drive from the station, but the hotel offers a shuttle service during afternoon check-in and morning check-out, so you basically don't need to take a taxi. Try to explore the town and buy supplies before entering the hotel, otherwise it might be inconvenient to go out on your own. Environment: The hotel was clean, no stains. The environment outside the room was serene; you could occasionally hear cicadas and frogs. A dragonfly even came to greet me while I was soaking in the hot spring. It felt like being surrounded by nature, very comfortable, but surprisingly, there weren't any mosquitoes! Service: From the moment I boarded the shuttle, I didn't need to carry my luggage. The staff were friendly and smiling throughout, even joking around when explaining how to eat. Excellent service! Hotel Facilities: There doesn't seem to be a public hot spring, but the private hot spring is more than enough! Food: For dinner, I chose sukiyaki. The beef was tender and marbled with fat, but surprisingly, it tasted quite refreshing and didn't get greasy quickly (although it did get greasy towards the end, haha). Breakfast was also quite good; I especially loved the mentaiko with rice. I'll definitely come back next time!"

"The room was spacious and came with a private onsen. Perched halfway up the mountain, the views were beautiful. If you don't have a car, you can book the shuttle, but be aware that the pick-up times are infrequent. The staff were friendly. Dinner was just okay, but since it was inconvenient to go back to the city, we ended up eating almost all our meals there as part of a half-board package."

"Staying at this hot spring hotel during cherry blossom season created wonderful memories for my family and me. The hotel provides a convenient shuttle service—just a quick call from the station, and within 10 minutes, a car arrives to take guests directly to the hotel. The staff were exceptionally polite and attentive. Upon noticing that my father was using a cane, they kindly arranged a room for us without stairs, ensuring a more comfortable stay. The accommodation was spacious, featuring a private onsen and a massage chair, which made the experience even more relaxing. Since the hotel is near the mountains, there were a few insects, but it wasn’t a major issue. The food was delicious and beautifully presented, and in the morning, guests could get fresh milk with breakfast. The hotel’s location was ideal—just a short distance from the shopping street and Lake Kinrin, making it easy to explore the area. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and we truly enjoyed the experience."

"What can I say? It was truly amazing! First of all, the scenery is so beautiful and unique. For this price, I stayed there, enjoyed the hot springs, had dinner, and had breakfast, and I didn't regret it at all!"

"The hotel environment is really nice, and it comes with a private hot spring. The dinner and breakfast provided were also delicious. It's about a kilometer from Yufuin town, and the hotel offers bicycles for guests to use. They also have a shuttle service to the station, which is very convenient."
