Hotel Skypark Dongdaemun I

The room size is decent, and the decor is standard. It's not far from the subway station, with plenty of good food options nearby.

The stay was comfortable, and the location was convenient. There's a bus stop nearby, and Dongdaemun Market is right next door, making it super easy to grab delicious food like pork hock and whole chicken. The hotel even provided three bottles of water daily, and you just pick up your food delivery from the lobby.

The room was generally clean and tidy. The front desk staff spoke Chinese, and everyone was very polite. The hotel is about a ten-minute walk from the nearest metro station. Also, this hotel doesn't use key cards; you have to enter a code for the elevator and to get into your room.

After staying in countless hotels both domestically and internationally, this was the first time I've ever seen a cockroach in my bed in the middle of the night. It was also the first time my husband and I had ever encountered a cockroach. Initially, my husband didn't know what kind of bug was crawling on him, so he just swatted it. Later, after taking a picture and asking an AI, we learned it was a cockroach. We were a family of three, and we arrived at the hotel around midnight. My husband found the cockroach around 2 AM. Considering our child was sleeping, he didn't wake us, but he searched the entire room to make sure there weren't any more and decided to try and get some sleep. He finally told me around 7 AM. I immediately contacted Ctrip customer service and also went down to the front desk. The front desk offered me breakfast vouchers and a small gift, which I refused. How could I possibly eat their food when there were cockroaches in the room? Due to the language barrier, I just told them to have Ctrip contact them later. We then thoroughly washed ourselves, put all our clothes in sealed bags, and checked out. Later, after returning home, my request to Ctrip was for a refund of the room fee. The hotel, however, produced a 'cesco' report stating there were no cockroaches or their bodies, and refused to refund or compensate us. This attitude is incredibly frustrating. No cockroach body? How is that possible? I took videos of both the room and the cockroach, which I left on the table. How could it not be there? I feel like the hotel assumed I was a foreigner and couldn't fight for my rights, so they're just being dishonest. This was an extremely disappointing stay, and I wouldn't go back a second time for anything. I rarely review hotels, but if you trust me, please avoid this hotel. You really don't want to bring cockroaches *home. I spent a lot of money just on dry cleaning and sanitizing my clothes, shoes, and luggage when I got back. Does the hotel's simple refusal mean I have no recourse?

First off, this is a legitimate hotel, not a guesthouse or a self-built inn. It has all the standard hotel amenities. It's definitely a suitable place to stay. Now, regarding the location, don't trust some of the online guides. This area isn't a commercial district or where tourists would typically want to go. It's a wholesale market hub, much like Beijing's Zoo Market or Chengdu's Lotus Pond Market – places that open at night for stocking up and close during the day. Within a two-kilometer radius, there are tens of thousands of tailor shops. Of course, there are some malls that are open during the day, but they're very few, so it's not recommended for tourists to stay here. I chose this place because I was returning to China from Busan, wanted a good night's rest, and needed to go to Gimpo Airport the next day. For everyone else, it's probably best to stick to hotels near Myeongdong; having Lotte Department Store right outside is the way to go. The hotel doesn't provide toothbrushes or toothpaste; you have to buy them from a vending machine. They really don't offer them at all, unlike other hotels where they might not actively provide them but will give them to you if you ask, like a razor. The two beds are roughly the size you'd find in a student dormitory. The breakfast *looked* like it would be good, but the reality was that it ended at 10 AM, with last entry at 9:30 AM. I went around 8:40 AM, and all that was left was sliced bread, sliced baguette, and instant noodles. As for scrambled eggs, bacon fried rice, which should have been there, I didn't see any – they were gone by at least 8:30 AM, and they didn't restock at all. The small pots for dishes in my pictures were all empty. I only managed to eat four small mushrooms. The hotel description mentioned sausages and other items, but there was absolutely nothing. In the end, I had a cup of instant noodles and a glass of grape juice.

The room was incredibly run-down, like stepping into a small-town Chinese guesthouse from the 1980s. It was less than 20 square meters; I couldn't even fully open my suitcase. The towels were grimy, the wallpaper was peeling, and the bathroom had no ventilation. The TV was awkwardly placed off to the side, at an angle that made it practically useless – they might as well have removed it. I can't wrap my head around why such a dilapidated hotel costs 1500 RMB. It's not even as good as a Hanting, Rujia, or Orange hotel in Beijing's 3rd Ring Road that costs 400-500 RMB. Fellow Chinese travelers, avoid this place!

Extremely good, excellent location and superb service. I'll definitely stay here again next time.

The room was decent, and getting around was very convenient. There are plenty of great food options downstairs nearby, and it's not a long walk to Dongdaemun. They even have front desk staff who speak Chinese, and there's ramen for breakfast.
