Blueduck hotel

The hotel's location is actually really convenient. It's just a few minutes' walk from Dongdaemun subway station, and the Airport Bus 6002 stop is less than 200m away. However, the hotel is tucked away in a small alley, which makes it a bit hard to find. Both the taxi driver and I were quite confused trying to locate it. On the bright side, there are plenty of restaurants and convenience stores nearby, making dining and shopping very easy. The front desk staff's English was excellent, so communication was a breeze, and they even had check-in instructions in Chinese. There's a coffee shop downstairs, part of the hotel, and we received two complimentary coffee vouchers upon check-in. The coffee shop has a great ambiance. The barista on duty when I went was a super cool lady with short hair. Even though I was just redeeming free coffee, she patiently asked about my preferences and told me to let her know if I needed anything. Later, when I returned to the hotel, she greeted me enthusiastically, which really brightened my day. The hotel room wasn't huge, but since it's a new hotel, the bathroom was very modern – definitely a step above many Korean hotels. The room provided bottled water and a toiletries kit, and the overall cleanliness was excellent. The only downside is that the family room isn't very spacious and honestly can't accommodate three suitcases. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay, and I would definitely choose this hotel again if I have the chance to visit in the future.

The best thing about this hotel is its location – super convenient for getting anywhere, and there are tons of restaurants nearby. The room was clean, and the service was good too. The coffee shop downstairs gives you two free Americanos daily, and you can upgrade to a latte for an extra charge. There's a great breakfast place just a street in front of the hotel that serves delicious seaweed rice balls. Plus, the Blue Duck Cafe offers two complimentary Americanos, making this hotel excellent value for money! 👍🏻

The hotel was close to the station. The room was spacious enough to open two suitcases at once. Although there was a window, you couldn't tell what the weather was like outside without opening it, which might make it feel a bit cramped, but I found it comfortable, not too big and not too small. There were two beds, about a semi-double and a double size, and the firmness made them easy to sleep on. The shower pressure was excellent! You could make it super strong or just a trickle, it was adjustable. The hair dryer also had strong airflow and could be adjusted to a weaker setting, which was great. There were three power outlets in the room, which was very convenient. I stayed for two nights, and it seemed someone re-entered my room after cleaning was supposedly finished, as the duck curtain was changed during that time. It's probably best to take valuables with you when leaving the room, even after cleaning. It's a hotel I'd definitely like to stay at again!

The front desk service was very friendly, but the room facing the street was too noisy and the soundproofing wasn't very good.

The room was very clean, which was nice. However, when I showered in the bathtub, the water spilled all over the floor by the sink, making it quite messy and unpleasant. Also, there were hardly any power outlets available. I had to boil water using the outlet next to the bed, which was very inconvenient. The cleanliness of the room was the only redeeming quality.

On March 28, 2025, I checked in during the afternoon. There was a male front desk staff member who was incredibly disrespectful. I've detailed the specific reasons in the image below for everyone's reference. If you're Chinese and don't want to be treated poorly or discriminated against, do not stay at this hotel. The three people I mentioned in the screenshot are Japanese, and he was extremely fawning towards them. One incident was when my mom, tired from our journey, sat on the only bench in the hotel lobby on the day we checked in. He then let those three Japanese guests check in first. I was very tired and squeezed in next to my mom. This front desk staff member then kicked me away, claiming I was blocking the Japanese guests from filling out their forms and that I would see their information. In reality, I wasn't blocking them at all. If I hadn't been unable to cancel the booking, I would have immediately switched to a better hotel. Staying here for these few days was purely paying to be angry. If you have a sufficient budget, I suggest staying at a better hotel like Wyndham. Honestly, encountering this front desk staff on my first day in Korea ruined my entire travel experience. However, there was another male front desk staff member on the evening of either March 29th or 30th (I can't quite remember the exact date) who was exceptionally kind and enthusiastic. So, it really depends on the person. Overall, avoid this hotel. I will not stay here again on my next trip to Korea. That male front desk staff member disgusted me.
